The midseason finale has finale hit us, but it was one hell of a ride that has left us wanting more!
SEAL Team 1×09 “Rolling Dark” on CBS had us cheering for Clay (Max Thieriot) more than ever! It was his first mission with Jason (David Boreanaz) and the team, but Clay didn’t let anything get him down and faced the mission head on. He even got some advice from Davis (Toni Trucks). There’s a fair amount of hazing, but it’s done in a more tasteful way than we ever expected! Even though it was his first mission, Clay ended up being away from home and Stella (Alona Tal) for an entire week. While Stella seemed to be okay with it, will she really be able to handle the life style of a SEAL? Or will it wear on her in the same way it has Alana (Michaela McManus)? We certainly hope she’s going to stick around. Not only because she and Clay seem to be a pretty good match, but also because we’re not sure if Clay can handle another person leaving him behind.

Ray (Neil Brown Jr.) and Naima (Parisa Fakhri) seem to be doing better with the new baby and their finances. Jason and Alana are a whole other story. It’s pretty obvious Jason wants to be with her, he’s been pretty open about that since the beginning. Being around Ray and Naima seems to just make that even clearer to him. Unfortunately, Alana doesn’t see anything changing, and probably won’t change her mind until then. Sonny (AJ Buckley) deals with a different kind of relationship as he also looks to Davis for words of wisdom. But at the end of the day, our team came home safe and completed the mission. The team also seems to be getting along with Clay much better now.

1. Clay is finally on Jason’s team! What were you feeling when the moment we’ve been waiting for finally happened?
Micha (@ciaomichaella): It was neat to see him on Jason’s team. I feel like the whole season thus far had been building up to it and it was inevitable. The tally of cases of beer was hilarious!
Laura (@Boneslvr38): Nothing really, because we all knew it was coming.
Linda (@Linda02100287): I was feeling anxiety for Clay, but it was kind of smooth going I thought. I was waiting for them to do something other than just picking on him for the imported beer.
Betsy (@RobarBetsy): Excited! Even though we knew it was going to happen, I was still super happy for Clay!
Andrea (@Andrea_Colanni): All I could think was, finally! It feels like we’ve been waiting for that moment forever! I was happy it happened during the midseason finale. I would have freaked out if I had to wait any longer for it.

2. Davis gives Clay some friendly advice about the beer. Does it surprise you that Davis was the first one to really reach out to Clay?
Micha: It didn’t surprise me at all. If anything, I was expecting Lisa to give Clay the low down of what it’s like to be part of the team. She’s like the protective older sister who’ll make sure you don’t hang yourself with a rope you’ve spun yourself; she’ll set you straight but at the same time, she has your back and won’t let you get picked on.
Laura: No, it doesn’t.
Linda: Not at all, I kind of expected it to be her.
Betsy: I kind of expected Ray to be the first one to reach out to Clay. Just because he and Naima seem to understand why Jason is so hesitant with him. But I loved that it ended up being Lisa.
Andrea: Ah, Lisa. She always tends to be that quiet person just observing things from the corner. Then, when you least expect it, she makes her appearance and just surprises you with her knowledge. I’m constantly surprised by her!

3. Clay isn’t the only one Davis is offering advice to as Sonny looks to her for guidance. So, is Davis the real wise member of the team?
Micha: I think Davis is a level-headed, nurturing force on the team. She’s someone people can really count on and turn to for support, as well as a reality check.
Laura: No, not necessarily.
Linda: Yes, she thinks differently than the guys bc she’s not as emotionally attached. She’s not on the ground with them, she’s more of an observer. So she can be more objective.
Betsy: I think she kind of is. She just always seems to know the right things to say and how to help the other members of the team.
Andrea: That’s a hard one. They are all kind of wise at different times, depending on each situation. I think it’s just surprising when Lisa comes in and just knows exactly what to say because we’re so used to seeing her as the tough and reserved SEAL.

4. Jason clearly wants to be back with Alana. Do you think this is something that’s likely to ever happen? Things just never seem to work with them.
Micha: Does he? It doesn’t seem so cut and dry to me. If anything, there was a brief second at the end of the mission where it seemed like Jason and Mandy were having a moment. Also, if Jason really wants to be back with Alana, why didn’t he press send? It was interesting to see he was wearing what I presume is his wedding ring around his neck. I have a feeling they might drag out whether Jason and Alana reconcile or divorce.
Laura: No, I don’t think they will.
Linda: I would like to see that happen. You can see they love one another and if it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be.
Betsy: Okay, I might be alone here. But I don’t really want to see Jason with Alana. I kind of want to see him with Mandy. They’ve had a connection since episode one. I just feel kind of done with the whole Alana situation.
Andrea: Their situation is so frustrating. It’s almost hard to watch! Jason wants to be with her so badly, and is willing to do just about anything to fix their relationship. But Alana just always seems to back away further, while giving him hope at the same time. I don’t know where their relationship is going, but I’m not sure if I’m as invested to care anymore.

5. So instead of himself, Clay reminds Jason of Nate. What do you think this means for their relationship down the road?
Micha: Well, Jason still has some unresolved issues concerning Nate so it’s possible those might bubble up and he may take it out on Clay. I wonder if it will cause him to be overly cautious and protective over Clay so he doesn’t feel guilt like he does over Nate’s death. Interestingly enough, Jason decided to take Clay with him to find the doctor. Is that Jason’s way of keeping Clay close and protecting him? Time will tell.
Laura: I think it will make it bumpy.
Linda: After this episode, you can see he does care about Clay and he’ll definitely train him and take him under his wing.
Betsy: I really though that Jason saw himself in Clay. But it really makes a lot of sense that he is actually seeing Nate when he looks at him. Trying to push Clay away so that he doesn’t care about him. He and Clay will get closer eventually, I think.
Andrea: I just want Jason to be like a big brother to Clay and I think that relationship is going to come in time. Jason will only be able to avoid getting as close to Clay as he is the others for so long. Stop resisting, Jason!

6. Stella comments on how Clay’s first day was more like a first week. Is she going to be able to handle it when Clay has to be gone for multiple weeks at a time?
Micha: They’re still in the early stages of their relationship but things have been on somewhat of a fast forward with Stella having a key and spending every night at Clay’s. As their relationship develops, she’ll realize whether or not she’s cut out to be the significant other of a SEAL.
Laura: No, I don’t think she will.
Linda: I need more information about her. As of now, she can go either way.
Betsy: That’s a hard one. I think it’s a hard life for anyone, to be with someone in the military. Even if you go into it thinking you know what to expect, I think it’s still different when you’re actually in the situation. Maybe Stella will be able to handle it. I hope she is.
Andrea: Stella’s a pretty independent woman. She can handle being on her own. It will suck for her to be worried about Clay when he’s away on missions, but I think she will be able to take it. I just want to see more of the two of them! They’re adorable!

7. What have you thought of the story so far? Are there things you want to see when the show returns to finish out the first season?
Micha: Loving the first half of the season so far and cannot wait to see the rest. I definitely would like to know more about Lisa and Sonny’s backstories, as well as Brock’s.
Laura: The story has been good. There isn’t anything I can think of that I want to see by the end of the season.
Linda: I’m actually liking the show a lot more than I thought I was going to. I’d like to see more action and more romance.
Betsy: I love military shows, but this one has really blown me away! I love how they’ve set up the characters. What I really want to see is more relationship development. Not just between the members of the team, but between them and their families at home too!
Andrea: I started watching this because not only am I obsessed with David Boreanaz, but with Max Thieriot too! This show had everything I wanted and it hasn’t disappointed me yet. But I do want to see a bit more action. I know there has been shooting and the missions, I guess I just want more in depth action? If that makes sense.

Final Verdict: Now that Clay is officially on the team, things are going to be even more exciting!
The writing on this show is done in such a way that the viewers are immediately pulled in. It doesn’t let up until the very end, when we’re just waiting for more! Time always seems to fly by when this show comes on! The character development just continues to impress. We are just starting to really delve into the characters and who they were before the show began. Jason has changed in so many ways since the first episode, and seems to have changed his priorities. It’s been done in such a believable way that we root for him in every episode. Not only that his mission is a success, but also that he and Alana may fix things between them just a bit more. Jason isn’t the only one who’s developed, Clay has also come a long way. The writers had him as the character that was difficult to like in the beginning. But as time has gone on, we’ve come to understand why he acted that way and also seen him change. Now, we cheer for all of his successes.
SEAL Team Roundtable 1×08 “The Exchange”
The development between Jason and Alana has been such a game of back and forth, we’re getting frustrated at the lack of progression. It’s become a will they or won’t they, and it’s becoming more frustrating as time goes on. We really want to see Jason and Alana together, but the chances seem to be fading instead of getting stronger. Then we’ve got the relationship between Ray and Naima. They seem to be doing better, which is great, but is made awkward by Jason staying on their couch. We think that shoves the goodness of their relationship into Jason’s face and shows him the flaws in his. That, and makes him miss Alana even more. Our hearts are breaking for Jason.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a new episode until January! At least we can look forward to all the adventures we’ll have when the show returns! Now that Clay and Jason will be working together, we have a feeling things will run a bit smoother, not to mention be a whole lot more intense! Even though, we stress over Jason and Alana, we have to admit we are still holding out hope for them and hope that when the season returns, they’ll have more chances to be together. We also can’t wait to see what happens with Clay and Stella. Especially now that their relationship is going to be put through its paces with Clay being gone for longer periods of time and being put into even more dangerous situations.
