‘The Blacklist’ Character on Santa’s Naughty List TV 2015

Santa and I have our own arrangement that we just don’t often make public.

Name: Raymond “Red” Reddington | TV Show: The Blacklist | Name of Residence: Wouldn’t you like to know.

I had a grade school crush on my fifth grade teacher’s assistant Miss Leigh. Exquisite young woman, right out of college. Beautiful smile. Long flowing hair and eyes that just took your breath away. She had a warmth about her that just radiated and stayed with you long after school was over every day. She would wear these sweaters that hugged her form and simply drove all of pre-pubescent boys crazy. She was clueless to this fact, which made it all the more delightful. We never could figure out why she suddenly had to leave mid way through the first term, but I suspect it had a lot to do with our teacher Mrs. Goad who was everything Miss Leigh wasn’t and just a spiteful little woman. Years later, I did Santa a huge favor and my only request for payment was to leave a letter under Miss Leigh’s tree that Christmas. I arranged for Miss Leigh to become Principal of that school though her distinguished career certainly deserved it on it’s own. I hear Mrs. Goad is still there, but gets absolutely no slack from her new boss. Santa chuckled when I gave him the paperwork. I was still on the naughty list for appearances sake, but he liked my style.

Do you play nicely with others?
Well now that’s an interesting question. It completely depends on who you ask. Santa and I happen to go way back and we’ve gotten along splendidly through the years. I’ve help him out in a pinch more than once, but I completely understand why I need to stay on the naughty list to keep up appearances. That doesn’t mean Santa and I don’t have our own arrangement that we just don’t often make public. He’s a heck of a guy and Mrs. Clause is an absolute delight. I love that woman. She’s simply one of the best human beings I know-though she chuckles that’s not saying much in my line of work.

Do you tell the truth, even if someone asks if you did something naughty?
Never! I’m a criminal! (Chuckles) What? You expected a different answer? (Chuckles again). I like this one (pointing to the interviewer). I’ll put in a good word with the jolly man in red for you.

What are you leaving Santa for a snack this year?
Rum-soaked rose-petal paczki. The best in the world. Santa loves them and so do I. I’ve also added a gift of cookies and hot chocolate that will be waiting for Santa when he returns from his long night of work. I took the liberty of adding a special ingredient. Don’t worry, I’ve been in close contact with his personal physician and he’ll have no trouble with the glorious side-effects. After all, this gift was really for Mrs. Claus and not him. He’s never suspected, but when she kisses me on the cheek with such warmth each time we meet—I know she knows.

Naughty Meter: Kind of Naughty but with a side of nice. Red is usually both at once, even when he’s at his worst.
