Salem’s Iddo Goldberg cast as DC Comics’ Red Tornado and Dr. T.O. Morrow on CBS’ Supergirl!
It was announced by Comic Book, Salem actor Iddo Goldberg has been cast to play the DC characters Red Tornado as well as his creator Dr. T.O. Morrow on CBS’ upcoming superhero series Supergirl. It was revealed at the Supergirl panel at last month’s Television Critics Association that these characters would be coming to the show in the first season, along with Non and General Sam Lane (father of Lucy Lane who will be played by Jenna Dewan-Tatum starting in episode 3).
Here is Warner Bros. TV’s description of both characters that was featured in Comic Book’s report:
“Red Tornado is the most advanced android the world has ever seen. Designed by scientist T.O. Morrow for the U.S. Army as the ultimate superweapon, he soon becomes sentient, posing a grave danger to National City — including the people Supergirl cares about most.”
As someone who is a big fan of the Red Tornado character, I’m fascinated yet not surprised they would add the same actor to play not only the heroic robot, but also his villainous human creator. It’s going to be interesting to see how they visually bring Red Tornado to life for the first time in live-action. While it wasn’t revealed in which exact episode Goldberg will make his debut as both the hero and villain, we know that it will be sometime in the first 9 episodes of the season..
The casting of Goldberg as both Red Tornado and T.O. Morrow, joins the list of previously announced characters such as Brit Morgan as Livewire, Chris Browning as Reactron, Levi Miller as Carter Grant, Justice Leak as Hellgrammite, Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord along with Jenna Dewan-Tatum as Lucy Lane. No casting announcement has been made yet for Sam Lane and Non, but we will most likely be hearing about those two by the time we get to the series premiere next month.
