Not only is the case against Salim getting more difficult, but so is the case of who the team can trust!
SEAL Team 1×17 “In Name Only” on CBS had us feeling the pressure right along with the team. Not only did they get their hopes up only to have them crushed, but the ongoing mission is making them suspicious of everyone outside of the team. Jason (David Boreanaz) is questioning Amy (Dawn Olivieri) and her intentions, while Mandy (Jessica Pare) still seems wary over Paul (Darren Pettie) and what he is truly after. Trust becomes such an issue that Ray (Neil Brown Jr.) catches up with Jason to make sure his focus is where it needs to be.

Clay (Max Thieriot) put his ear to the ground with the other team to make sure everything is running true and correctly. Meanwhile, Vanessa (Marsha Thomason) uses her skills to question where Salim’s wife has disappeared to. Paul finally gets the interview with Jason he wanted so desperately, which leads Jason to some answers about Amy. But as things go deeper, the truth about who bombed Echo Team seems to stray farther away. Will the team be able to catch Salim? Is it possible that Paul and Amy are involved with the bombing of Echo Team, or know more about it than they are saying?

1. Do you think Paul’s intentions are to help Mandy or himself?
Bryna (@Becoming_Bryna): Help himself right now. He doesn’t know Mandy other than an “in” right now. This may grow into something else down the road. But right now it seems a bit one-sided.
Manuela (@yellowhat3): I believe that Paul’s generosity will only go as far as what he will get back himself. I don’t picture him as pure of heart!
Micha (@ciaomichaella): Maybe I’m biased and have trust issues, but I think ultimately he’s in it for himself. He did state from the get go that he was all about quid pro quo. So at least he was upfront about it.
Andrea (@Andrea_Colanni): I’m not a fan of Paul and I haven’t trusted him from his first moment on-screen. I just hope Mandy doesn’t get herself into trouble for ever trusting him. He’s definitely in it for himself.
Marilyn (@Marilyn72568293): Paul comes off as kind of sketchy. He also made it really clear early on that he doesn’t do anything for others unless there is something in it for him. That’s not the kind of person Mandy should be trusting. Paul is obviously only in it for himself.

2. What did you think about our team having to join up with Afghan Special Forces?
Bryna: I do like it. I support the coalition efforts.
Manuela: I guess it could be logical to involve the local military, but I don’t believe it was done properly. Very suspicious indeed and they are very lucky that nothing worse happened to them!
Micha: Trust no one! Actually, what I really wanted to say is a reference to an Orange Is the New Black episode but it might not be appropriate. I definitely didn’t think ‘new guy’ with his one year of experience was on the up and up. I’m curious though, how’s Sonny’s left nut doing?
Andrea: On a regular mission, I would say it was great to see our team joining forces with the locals. But with this situation, I see everything as suspicious. So this whole thing had me suspicious.
Marilyn: I always enjoy seeing the team join efforts with other teams. This was definitely an interesting set up. But there were certainly a few suspicious things happening with it, just like everything else that has to do with this case so far.

3. Were you disappointed when the team finally found Salim’s wife only to discover her information wouldn’t be enough?
Bryna: Heck yes! Thought it would crack open a big can of worms!
Manuela: I expected her not to be able to help immediately. But now I think Bravo Team has the upper hand to get to Salim because she may hold other clues he doesn’t want Bravo Team to find out.
Micha: Of course! But I guess it makes more sense for the overall plot of the show. It’s good that they’re having longer, more connected story lines. It’s a good way to keep the audience engaged.
Andrea: A little. Only because I’m so ready to see the resolution to this whole story line. I’m glad there seems to be a more overall plot to the season, but now it’s kind of dragging for me.
Marilyn: Not really. But only because everything with this mission so far has gone this way. Every time the team thinks they have found a lead, it just seems to take them to another dead-end.

4. Do you think there is something suspicious happening with Amy?
Bryna: Yeah, but with the nature of their job, I am very suspicious of everybody!
Manuela: Amy better play her hand and provide Jason with everything he needs for the Team to solve the case!
Micha: Yes! I don’t trust her. Didn’t like her from the start and I’m not a fan that Jason’s hooking up with her. I wonder if he suspects something though because of the interview he had and the new-found knowledge about mining being the new trillion-dollar industry. Him going to Amy’s place for the drill and not staying made me wonder.
Andrea: Absolutely. I think she’s hiding things and I haven’t trusted her from the moment I saw her. But part of that is because I am still holding out hope for Mandy to be with Jason.
Marilyn: I’m going to hope there isn’t because I don’t think Jason deserves that. But I also have a feeling there is more going on with Amy than she is saying. The good news is, I think Jason is also being cautious and suspicious of her.

5. What will the team have to do in order to get the evidence needed on Salim?
Bryna: They need some iron-clad proof beyond reasonable (and unreasonable) doubt. This guy is slippery.
Manuela: They must find his weak spot! Does he have a child or more evidence of him being tied to the poppy field?
Micha: That’s a good question. I’m not sure, but it seems like for each question they get answered, there’s at least two more that pop up.
Andrea: That’s a tough one, because it seems like every time they get evidence, it proves not to be enough. There has to be a way to get what they need, they just need to keep digging.
Marilyn: I’m not sure if I know the answer to that. The team certainly hasn’t had luck answering that question so far. We’ll just have to wait and see what the team is able to come up with.

6. Ray once again comes in as the voice of reason and tells Jason his head isn’t in the game. Do you think Ray is right?
Bryna: Yup. That’s what a great friend and second is for. Keep the leader on point at all times.
Manuela: I agree that it was time yet again to check in with Jason and make sure everyone was still on the same page. I was a bit worried when Jason said next time he would not bring them on the mission? This freaked me out!
Micha: Ray might have a point. Ray has known Jason for a long time and is probably a good judge of things when Jason is not able to be 100% objective.
Andrea: Yes. Mostly because Ray hasn’t been wrong when it comes to Jason and his mindset yet. Jason has a lot going on, but he knows better than anyone that if he isn’t focused, people could die.
Marilyn: Oh yeah. Not only is Ray the second in command, but he’s also Jason’s best friend. They’ve known each other and worked with each other for years. There clearly isn’t much they don’t know about the other. So if Ray felt it was time to step in and have a chat with Jason, then it definitely was.

7. Who do you think the man looking for the same information about the holding is?
Bryna: I missed this completely. Conspiracy theories are firing off in my head as I read this question!
Manuela: Paul or one of Salim’s guards. How about Dorri? She spends her days as a boy so she could have been mistaken when identified?
Micha: I don’t know. I guess we’ll find out in two weeks. Or eventually?
Andrea: I am going full on conspiracy theory with this one. I’ve been letting my mind wander and it has gone to some crazy places. I’m thinking it has to do with Paul and Amy. Mostly because I dislike both of them and they are both suspicious and have been infiltrating the team through Jason and Mandy.
Marilyn: Hmm. That one is hard. There are so many possibilities! Maybe someone on Salim’s payroll? That certainly wouldn’t surprise me. He seems to have his hands in everything to keep his name clean and clear.

Final Verdict: When is our team going to be able to catch a bit of a break?!
It was great to see our team all getting along this week-with each other anyway. There was definitely some tension when they had to team up with the other forces. But the mystery with Echo Team is keeping us on the line. The writers are continuing to give us hope in new ways every week, just to turn around and crush it. We have to say, they are excelling at keeping us both on the edges of our seats and guessing. There are still so many possibilities of who could be on Salim’s payroll. We’ve even begun questioning Paul and Amy. Basically anyone outside of the team is on the suspect list and it’s giving us some serious anxiety!

While part of us is loving the mystery behind who could be involved with Salim, it’s kind of making our heads spin. This has been going on for so many weeks now, we’re starting to lose track of what is happening. Not to mention the fact that the weeks are being spread out even more by all the breaks being taken between episodes. We are beyond ready to see this case solved and Salim get the punishment he so clearly deserves. There is also going to be some severe disappointment if Amy and Paul turn out to have been deceiving Jason and Mandy from the beginning.
We’ve got two weeks until the next episode, but it’s sure to be a big one! Not only does the focus of the episode seem to be away from Salim, but it’s all about protecting officials. Jason and the team are going to have their work cut out for them with these Congressmen. Threats have been made against them publicly, and the officials still want to go through with their planned press tour. As if the team’s mission wasn’t difficult enough!
