Bravo Team is having issues not only with each other and the mission, but at home as well!
SEAL Team 1×16 “Never Get Out of the Boat” on CBS put us in difficult positions throughout the entire episode. There were times we were on the fence about Jason’s (David Boreanaz) decisions as well as a few of Mandy’s (Jessica Pare). Things were tense as Mandy did what she felt she had to in order to get the answers the team needed. The same went for Jason as he was just doing what he thought was best for the mission. Jason was a bit more intense than usual with this one, so we were left wondering whether or not his thinking was sound. Then there was the situation between Jason and Amy (Dawn Olivieri) that we’re not really feeling at the moment.

Meanwhile, Clay (Max Thieriot) and Stella (Alona Tal) had some relationship issues when Clay’s jealousy seemed to get the better of him. The tension between Sonny (AJ Buckley) and Clay finally came to a head as well. But Clay was able to rise above Sonny’s disrespect of him and save the seasoned SEAL’s life. So, could this be the end of the troubles between these two? We’re sure hoping so! We’re also still waiting on answers about who coordinated the deaths of Echo Team! Check out what our roundtable guests of the week had to say about it!

1. What did you think of Mandy’s interrogation tactics? Does anything go as long as answers are received?
Bryna (@Becoming_Bryna): There is a fine line between brutality and persuasion. Sometimes torture comes in the form of the thought of your family being hurt rather than the reality of it.
Manuela (@yellowhat3): These suspects are hardened by the life they lead and the only way to get answers is to fight fire with fire. She had all her chips ready to drop one by one. Mandy is a great interrogator! Very prepared!
Micha (@ciaomichaella): It was awesome! I loved when she whipped out his phone and threatened to just start calling his contacts. I don’t think anyone would bat an eye or pause if a man was interrogating and did the same things Mandy did.
Andrea (@Andrea_Colanni): I love Mandy and she never ceases to amaze me with her level of badass! There is nothing she isn’t willing to do in order to get the answers she needs. I think Mandy knew where the line between right and wrong was and she knew exactly how to walk it!
Marilyn (@Marilyn72568293): While I absolutely love Mandy, I’m a little worried about her. She just seems to be acting a little strange lately, this interrogation included. I just think she’s on a dangerous path. But I guess we’ll see!

2. They got the sighting they needed, but was it a good idea for the team to send an innocent girl into such a dangerous situation?
Bryna: That was a tough call. It almost looked as they cared more about the target than the girl.
Manuela: Again, I believe that Dorri knows exactly what she is doing and had already agreed to help Mandy and Jason in return for a plane ticket. She did a perfect job and that scene with Ray was epic!
Micha: It was a calculated risk. Things could’ve gone horribly awry had they discovered Dorri was a teenage girl instead of a hairless boy. Luckily, Ray was quick to act.
Andrea: I understand that this team has become desperate to find out who is responsible for the deaths of Echo Team. But it seems like the risks are beginning to get a little too out of control. I know it worked, but that tactic seemed like a horrible and dangerous idea.
Marilyn: I’m not sure if it was such a good idea, but I think it was the only option in a situation filled with nothing but bad options. The team did the best they could and made sure they were able to get the girl out.

3. The entire team was at risk over the course of the episode, who were you the most concerned for?
Bryna: Clay. With his girl and the thing with Sonny, that is way too much on his mind while in combat.
Manuela: Jason, because he really looked out of his mind! I wasn’t too worried that he would perish, but I was really worried that his lack of sleep and mental torment would contribute to him making poor decisions to put his team at higher risk.
Micha: I think I was most concerned for Sonny because he actually got shot. Glad Clay had his back.
Andrea: Honestly, I was worried for Mandy the most. I know she wasn’t in direct danger like the other SEALs, but I always worry about them less. This is what they are trained for. But Mandy’s mental well-being had me pretty concerned.
Marilyn: It may seem out of left field, but I was super concerned for Ray. When he went into an extremely dangerous situation to save that young girl, I was terrified over what could happen to him! I love Ray!

4. After everything they have now been through, do you think Clay and Sonny will begin getting along better now?
Bryna: They better!
Manuela: I am certain that now Sonny will think twice about treating Clay like a newbie. There will be a big change in respect toward him since he saved his life! I certainly hope they keep that teasing banter between them though!
Micha: They said they were good at the end of the episode, so I hope everything’s smooth sailing from now on. I loved that despite the tension before the mission, in the end Clay was there to do his job for the good of the team. I don’t think there was any doubt Clay would not try to save Sonny.
Andrea: I really hope so. Clay has come a long way since the beginning and Sonny has just gotten harder and harder on him. I’m sure Sonny is just trying to test him to make sure Jason’s team is where he belongs, but ease up man!
Marilyn: My fingers are crossed and they are going to stay that way until we are shown that Clay and Sonny are all good now. I just want them to be friends. Just imagine all the inside jokes they could have as good friends instead of enemies!

5. Do you think that Jason made the right calls during the mission, despite the fact that he went against orders?
Bryna: That is a hard call. Since I have never been in the military, I do not feel qualified to answer this question. My gut says yes, but my logical side says no.
Manuela: I trust Jason implicitly and believe that his gut and massive skill set is what got him to where he is! Although he seemed like a crazy man for a while, he believes in his team to keep up and support each other no matter what!
Micha: It’s probably one of those ‘the ends justify the means’ situations because at the end of the day, they got the job done.
Andrea: Jason has been a SEAL for quite some time. So I would think those above him would know exactly what he was going to do. They should trust him enough to know that he’ll make the best decisions possible for every situation. Orders don’t always come first for Jason. I agree with what he did.
Marilyn: That’s a hard one. Jason always uses the best judgement he can when it comes to the safety of his team and himself. I would like to say I trust him and that’s all that I need. But higher-ups must have a reason for ordering the opposite of Jason.

6. What did you think when Amy pulled Jason into her bunker?
Bryna: She did not have rules. Separated is still married. But she looked like she did not care either way when she first laid eyes on the boy and got past the fence to check him out in his skivvies.
Manuela: The only thing I will say here is that Jason better have an ulterior motive. Such as using her because he believes she has better intel than Paul to help solve the case! Ugh.
Micha: Hated it! Because (and I acknowledge my bias here), it reminds me too much of a particular story arc from Bones. I’m a fan of SEAL Team so I’m willing to see where it goes. At this point, I don’t really like the whole Jason and Amy hookup.
Andrea: We all know how I feel about this. I wanted Jason and Alana to call it quits from the beginning because I like Jason and Mandy. So, I definitely don’t want to see Jason with Amy. It helps that I really just don’t like her to begin with.
Marilyn: I rolled my eyes. They can’t really be taking the story in this direction right? When Jason and Alana made the decision to call it quits, I would have been totally fine with Jason going out and jumping into the dating pool. But not with Amy. I just don’t like her.

7. What do you think is going to happen between Clay and Stella now?
Bryna: Stella. I still don’t trust her. She didn’t even say she missed Clay. It’s almost like he is one of her study subjects. Hmm, I say move on, Clay. Move on.
Manuela: I found their video call scene crucial to depict the extreme hardships of deployment and shows such a contrast to what Jason is going through! Clay didn’t seem too affected on the mission and stayed focused, but I think all will rest on the next video call they do to determine what happens next. Stella was calm and quite detached.
Micha: I really hope they survive the long distance relationship. I don’t know if Sonny’s dance helped or hurt things!
Andrea: I’ve been on the fence about Stella since the moment we saw her. But the way she was acting on that video chat was ridiculous. It’s pretty clear she doesn’t care as much for Clay as he does for her. But that’s just me and how I’ve felt about Stella since the beginning.
Marilyn: Well, Stella was being a little weird during their call. But Clay was also acting like a possessive ass hat. I don’t think the relationship is going to last much longer if they continue going down this road.

Final Verdict: Can’t our entire SEAL Team just get along with each other already?!
Things were more than just a little crazy this week. We saw a whole new side of Jason and we aren’t sure we liked it. The answer as to who is at the root of Echo Team’s deaths is still a mystery and it has us more than just a little frustrated. But the writing keeps us hanging on as they provide all the action we love and crave. Along with the drama. But Clay and Sonny showed us a new side of them as well, and that we are sure we didn’t like. Then there was Stella, who has always been written like a mystery. She’s been written that way so well, we’re still not sure what kind of person she is.

So many problems! Between Stella making this sudden switch to cold-hearted, and Jason looking deranged, we’re shaking our heads in confusion. We don’t expect this entire group of men to get along with each other all the time, but the conflict between Sonny and Clay has been out of control for a while. Shouldn’t Jason have stepped in and prevented it long before it got this far? Or even Ray, who likes to play peacemaker most of the time. We’re just glad the animosity between them is over. At least we hope so! We’re not sure we could take much more of that.
We’re going to stay tuned to see who the culprit behind Echo Team’s death is! The mystery is keeping us on the edge of our seats, and next week promises to be even more intense. Something we didn’t even know was possible. Then there is the fact that Mandy plays a big part in next week’s episode. She may just be taking control of this entire situation! If that’s true, than we most certainly can’t wait!
