Reg Cathey of House of Cards and The Wire has passed away at the age of 59. The people of Hollywood are all coming together to remember Cathey and his career. The child pornography case against Mark Salling, who committed suicide in late January, has been dropped.
The rights of John Updike’s Rabbit, Run novels have been purchased by Lookout Point. Brandon Flynn of 13 Reasons Why has signed to UTA. Producers and showrunners of This Is Us, Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger have both signed with CAA. Karyn Smith-Forge has also officially signed on as SVP for Berlanti Productions.
NBC has had their records shattered by the Super Bowl episode of This Is Us. 27 million viewers tuned in for the highly anticipated episode. James Spader sat down to talk about the storytelling of The Blacklist. Alex Gansa, Homeland showrunner also spoke about the upcoming season of the show.

Hot Topic: Jay Asher denies allegations, The Deuce to film amid James Franco allegations, and more!
A spokesperson for Jay Asher, author of 13 Reasons Why, has denied the sexual allegations made against the author by the SCBWI. But Asher has been expelled from the society.
Amid sexual allegations against James Franco, co-creator and executive producer of the series, David Simon has stepped forward to say production of The Deuce is moving ahead as scheduled. They also say Franco has been nothing but professional and denies the allegations.
Justin Hartley has been signed by CAA. Hartley is among This Is Us producers and showrunners with the signing.
Guess Who: Jessica Szohr joins The Orville as regular, Ray Fisher joins True Detective, and more!
Carnival Films, Downton Abbey’s producer, is in the process of developing a television adaptation of The Awkward Age, based on Francesca Segal’s novel of the same name.
Jessica Szohr is officially joining the cast of The Orville when they return for a second season. Szohr has been slated as a series regular. AMC’s Preacher has also added to their cast with Betty Buckley and Colin Cunningham as season regulars when the series returns for a third season. Jeremy Childs and Liz McGeever have also joined the cast as recurring characters.
Raza Jaffrey has signed on for the lead role in the new NBC pilot, The Enemy Within. Andy Karl of Law & Order: SVU is the new male lead of ABC’s Staties. Sheryl Lee Ralph is set to be a recurring guest on Claws, while Felisha Terrell will have a recurring role on Shooter, opposite Ryan Phillippe.
True Detective has added Ray Fisher as a series regular when the show returns for its third season. Mahershala Ali, Carmen Ejogo, Stephen Dorff, Scoot McNairy, and Mamie Gummer have also been previously added to the series. Rhys Wakefield, Michael Greyeyes, and Jon Tenney will also hold recurring roles in the series.
CBS’ new legal drama, Main Justice, has cast Bokeem Woodbine as their new lead. FOX’s new vampire drama, The Passage, has cast a series regular in Emmanuelle Chriqui. Alana De La Garza of Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders has been cast one of three leads in CBS pilot, Chiefs. Sohvi Rodriguez and Damon Williams are both signed on for recurring roles when Animal Kingdom returns for season 3.
Rumor Has It: Iran Contra scandal being put on the small screen!
A new television series is rumored to be appearing about the Iran Contra scandal. The inspiration will come from the novel Freeway Rick Ross: The Untold Autobiography. The book contains many details to how Rick Ross created his California based cocaine empire. Randall Emmett and George Furla will be leading the television series adaptation.

Though we’re left thinking Reileen has left for good, Netflix’s Altered Carbon actress Dichen Lachman dishes on her character. Specifically, she talks about whether or not we will ever get to see her again.
“Of course there’s the possibility. She’s very powerful in the show. I can’t imagine she doesn’t have a back-up somewhere. She’s very organized. I think she would have a lot of contingencies planned. It’s a possibility, but we don’t know yet.”
The Evolve Entertainment Fund in Los Angeles has officially been opened. The EEF are seeking to raise at least 5 million dollars to fund their programs all the way up to 2020. Ava DuVernay had a lot to say about the industry and how it is changing.
“Real change happens when we take tangible action. That means giving young women and people of color opportunities in the industry early on. So they have the chance to shape its future.”
Ellen Pompeo, Grey’s Anatomy alum and title character has revealed the reasons behind her big salary reveal to the public.
“But there’s less people owning up to their side of things, and I wanted to sort of do a truthful interview and talk about my road to my own empowerment and how I got there.”

Facebook Watch has ordered a straight-to-series drama both starring and executive produced by Elizabeth Olsen. The ten episode series is one of the first ordered by Facebook.
ABC has given an exclusive first look at the crossover event for Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder. The episode airs Thursday, March 1st at 9/8c on ABC. You can check out the exclusive trailer here! But these aren’t the only shows getting a crossover event as Grey’s Anatomy will also introduce their spinoff series, Station 19. HBO is creating a new miniseries based on Alex Gibney’s cyberware project. The series is about a self-replicating computer virus. It’s all a game of cyber-warfare with hackers and spies and a virus capable of destroying nuclear facilities.
Canal+ has gained the rights to The Alienist, and will be broadcasting in France. This is closely following a deal with Netflix rights in the United Kingdom. The ten episode series will air on April 19th.
The Mark Gordon Company, producer of Grey’s Anatomy has a new eight episode series coming to YouTube. Youth & Consequences premieres on March 7th on the platform. Anna Akana, YouTube star, will be the main character of the series.
Katie Couric has joined Michael Lombardo in creating a small screen adaptation of Amy Blume’s White Houses novel. Jane Anderson has also joined the project as a director. The series will focus on the affair between Eleanor Roosevelt and Lorena Hickok.
A new thriller series has been picked up as a TNT original series. Deadlier Than the Male is a story of three main characters all being pushed to their breaking points. But production of the series isn’t set to begin until this summer.
Netflix’s new series, Safe, will premiere at CanneSeries TV festival in April. The new series will be led by Michael C. Hall and Audrey Fleurot. The series is about the daughter of a widower, who disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
Amazon has ordered a new German speaking series, Beat. This will be the first television series by Marco Kreuzpaintner. The show will focus on a Berlin club promoter and his life focused on drugs, sex, and the nightlife.
Season 2 of The Good Fight will focus on Diane and her battle with Liz Reddick-Lawrence, a new partner at her firm. The CBS All Access series will start up again on March 4th.
The Amazing Film Company will be partnering up with Enderby Entertainment for an all new thriller series, Beneath. Production on the Antarctica based show is slated to begin this winter. But the main plot is being kept under wraps.
A new drama series set in South Africa, Blood Horn, but hasn’t found a streaming home yet. The series is being created through a team up with Red Arrow Studios and Don Carmody Television. The main character will be a Marine who finds herself immersed in a world of poaching.
