Chantal Thuy Joins Black Lightning As DC’s Grace Choi
More DC Comics characters are coming to The CW’s upcoming midseason show Black Lightning. Variety broke the news earlier this week that Chantal Thuy (Madam Secretary, Pretty Little Liars) is set to recur as Grace Choi, who is a member of the Outsiders in the DC mythology.
Grace will be a recurring character who will be the love interest of Nafessa Williams’ Anissa Pierce. Described as a comic book fan, Choi works as a bartender who befriends Anissa as Jefferson Pierce’s (Cress Williams) oldest daughter comes to terms with her abilities. According to Warner Bros. TV and The CW, Grace will be the first person Anissa confides in when she discovers she is a metahuman.
New Warriors To Get A New Home
There has been a slight shakeup with one of Marvel TV’s upcoming projects. The Hollywood Reporter announced that Marvel’s first comedy series New Warriors will no longer be coming to Freeform as previously revealed.
According to the trade, the comedy show, from executive producer Kevin Biegel (Scrubs, Cougar Town), wasn’t able to fit in on the Freeform schedule for the new TV season. With Marvel still aiming for a 2018 premiere, the show is currently being shopped around, but there is a problem.
Because of Disney’s upcoming streaming service, the Marvel-Disney project doesn’t have a lot of options in terms of networks as New Warriors isn’t allowed to be sold to outside companies. But THR states that New Warriors can potentially be taken out to a number of streaming services. Production is rumored to kick off again in January 2018, but only if a new home is found by then.
New Titans Character Breakdowns

A bit Stepford-y in her thinking and appearance, Jennifer feels like a woman out of time. RECURRING GUEST STAR.

[THE MESSENGER] Male, 50s-60s, Open ethnicity. Outwardly a warm and kind presence, he doesn’t seem the type to be powerful or malicious. But he has the ability to turn on a dime and be the most terrifying man you have ever met. Seeking offer only names/recognizable faces…RECURRING GUEST STAR.”
THS speculates that “Daniel Cross” and “Jennifer Andrews” are none other than Danny Chase a.k.a. Phantasm and Rita Farr a.k.a. Elasti-Girl respectively. In the case of “Daniel”, there is another potential character that he might be and that is Roy Harper a.k.a. Speedy/Arsenal, who was played Colton Haynes on The CW’s DC shows.
With “Caroline”, it’s believed that she is Rachel Roth a.k.a. Raven’s (Teagan Croft) biological mother Arella. Then in the case of “The Messenger”, THS believes that it might be the Teen Titans villain Brother Blood. With production set to start on November 14, we’ll hopefully by then have more casting news as they start shooting the highly anticipated superhero series.
