ICYMI: Marvel’s Inhumans may get a second season, The Flash will introduce villain Hyrax
Welcome to issue #9 of Superhero After Dark! We have plenty of superhero news for you, but before you dive in, you can catch up on the latest news from last week here!
Despite bad reviews and low ratings, Marvel’s Inhumans may still get a second season.
“It didn’t perform for us at the level that we would’ve wanted. We haven’t made any official decision yet about what we’re going to pick up in May, but I will say that the numbers, unfortunately, were less exciting for us than we hoped they would be.”
‒ Channing Dungey (ABC President)
In other news, The Flash will be introducing new villain Hyrax, better known from the Green Arrow comics. Though her origin story may be different on the show, the domestic terrorist may be another victim of Clifford Devoe’s bus explosion.
Now that you’re all caught up, let’s get started! Spoilers ahead: you’ve been warned!

Hot Topic: Casting of Lois Lane is reportedly underway on Supergirl!
Looks like the famous Daily Planet reporter will be making her way to National City! A casting call has been revealed for the role, as Sarah Cabellos (Sector 17) reads for the role on tape. You can check out her full audition tape here!
Details haven’t been revealed about the casting call, nor when Lois will be appearing on the show. Lane’s past portrayer on Smallville, Erica Durance, has snagged the role as Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) mother as the show recast Laura Benanti (Gypsy).
Lois’s other half Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) was featured in a few episodes of Supergirl, as well as her sister Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan-Tatum).
Guess Who: Kid Flash joins Legends of Tomorrow as series regular!
It’s time to say goodbye to one speedster of The Flash as Wally West will be hopping on the Waverider permanently on Legends of Tomorrow. Kid Flash has already made a few appearances on Legends, and his time as a series regular will begin in episode 13 of the second season. Here’s what executive producer Phil Klemmer of Legends has to say about Wally joining the team:
“We loved working with Keiynan in our series premiere — the episode in which we learned that in between seasons 2 and 3 he had been fighting crime in Central City with Nick Zano’s Nate Heywood. So when his character stepped away from Flash to go on walkabout, after being dumped and feeling somewhat estranged from his family and team, we knew that Wally West would fit in perfectly on Legends.”

TVAD Writers Room: Roundtable midseason premieres of The Flash and Supergirl, Black Lightning’s first ever roundtable and “The Trial of The Flash” review!
The TVAD writers went to town this week as The Flash and Supergirl returned with their midseason premieres! Plus the first ever black superhero family made its way to our screens this week as Black Lightning premiered on Tuesday following The Flash.
The Flash’s Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) was put to trial for the murder of Clifford Devoe (Neil Sandilands), who is inhabiting the body of Dominic Lanse (Kendrick Sampson). This left our roundtable perplexed as to how Team Flash will get out of this one! Supergirl’s midseason premiere introduced the Legion of Superheroes, and Brainiac-5, which our roundtable seemed to be fans of!
The first ever roundtable for Black Lightning was a success, as our guests are wanting more of the electric superhero.
Lastly, you can check out this week’s review of The Flash, where our editor-at-large Reagan Pierce discusses “The Trial of The Flash!”
