So You Think You Can Dance 14×13 was a fast paced night full of creative choreography
So You Think You Can Dance season fourteen is nearly over. In fact, we now have our group for the finale. We won’t be sending home any more dancers until we crown our very favorite as the winner. It’s really getting down to the wire now folks. In case you missed it, our final four dancers are: Kiki, Taylor, Koine, and Lex.

It’s not a shocking final four. In fact, some of our very own roundtablers predicted this exact line up for the finale (you can check out their innate psychic abilities in the link above.) Since we’ve got such an intuitive group of fans, we better pay close attention to what they predict comes next. This week, we ask them to predict who will win it all, as well as get their opinions on a few other things.
Without further ado, here is our (slightly psychic) roundtable.
Austin (@theaustinmayor) – Dancer, choreographer, and teacher
Janine (@J9DH) – Mom of 2 and fan of talent shows like SYTYCD and American Idol
Terry (@rockinchick66) – Asset Manager by day, Wife, Kitty Mama and SYTYCD super fan by night!
Tracy (@tjohn68) – Dance fan, TV fan, Superhero fan
Brandon (@indigo_15) – Writer, dance enthusiast, lover of pop culture. Supporter of imaginations running wild.

1. How do you feel about the top 4?
Austin (@theaustinmayor): Those were the 4 that I thought would make it, so I’m feeling really great about it!! There’s no one that can move and jump like Lex. Koine is so energetic and has such a great personality! Kiki is the ladies man (I’m pretty sure that’s why he’s in the top 4), and he has grown over these last weeks (although him leaping in that rehearsal video made him look really weak in other styles). And Taylor is so graceful and flexible, and the partnership with Robert is amazing!
Janine (@J9DH): All of the dancers absolutely killed it last night so I am very happy with this Top 4! I would have preferred Kaylee over Taylor, but last night Taylor brought it and definitely earned her spot-they all did!
Brandon (@indigo_15): This is one of my favorite top 4s in quite a while. They’re all amazingly talented and likable, and I’ve found myself rooting for all of them for different reasons. Lex is an absolute powerhouse, Taylor has impressed from the very beginning, Koine is stunning in motion and is full of heart and soul, and Kiki is the dark horse who has grown leaps and bounds ever since his time at The Academy. It’s also nice to see a ballroom dancer make the final four for the first time since Lacey Schwimmer eleven seasons ago! I hated seeing Logan go, and Kaylee has steadily improved over the past few weeks, but this is the final four I was hoping for, even though I didn’t predict it.
Tracy (@tjohn68): I’m really happy for all four of them. Every single one of them brought their A game for the last three episodes, so any configuration from the top six probably would have been fine with me.
Terry (@rockinchick66): Although I was sad and a little shocked that Logan was sent home I’m happy with the top 4. It’s a good mix of different styles of dancers.

2. Who would you pick as the top 2?
Austin: Lex and Koine. Lex because he literally can do every style and make it look effortless, plus no one compares to his dancing ability during his solos. Koine slightly over Taylor because she had such a great fun, personality and her chemistry with Marko is so great to watch! I think both girls are equal in dance ability, I just give the edge to Koine simply for her personality and partnership with Marko.
Janine: I think Taylor and Lex will be the Top 2 but I think Koine and Lex should be the Top 2. I think Koine is the most versatile of all of the Top 4 dancers-she has totally nailed every style of dance and can we say she nailed gymnastics too since she added a high bar performance last night? Wow! I think Lex is the most exciting and unique dancer of the Top 4, and he is clearly a trooper considering he didn’t even want to mention his injuries on live TV!
Brandon: This is so hard, because I really like all four of them, and I feel like I’d be happy with any of them making the top 2. My gut is pulling me toward Lex. I think he should definitely be there. My second pick is Koine, because of the way she brings so much light and joy to the stage when she dances. But again, I would not be mad at all if Kiki or Taylor make the final two either.
Tracy: I think Lex and Taylor, but with the trajectory Kiki has been on, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get in there as well. Especially with that solo tonight!
Terry: Ooooh! This is a tough one! Who do I want in the top 2? Koine and Lex! Who do I think will be top 2? Lex and Taylor.

3. Which of tonight’s dances did you most enjoy?
Austin: A lot…haha. If I had to pick one, I’d pick Koine and Marko’s contemporary. I think the use of a closet with the bar worked very well and it was captivating to watch. All of those lifts were so creative and it was an all around beautiful piece!
Janine: I enjoyed every dance, but I really loved the Taylor/Robert performance choreographed by Keoni and Mari. This is the first time I have felt Taylor conveyed the proper emotion and the result was very powerful. The dancing, music, lighting, costume and choreography were perfectly blended!
Brandon: I loved several of tonight’s routines, including Koine & Marko’s contemporary by Mandy and Elizabeth, Kiki & Jenna’s jazz by Ray Leeper, and Kaylee & Cyrus’ hip-hop by Phillip Chbeeb, but Taylor and Robert’s Keone & Mari piece was the best of the best to me. It was a sharp, precise, visually stunning piece of storytelling that relies heavily on the trust between the two dancers. In other words, it was everything I’ve come to expect from Keone & Mari. Taylor danced it incredibly well, and Robert proved (once again) why he’s one of the most popular dancers in SYTYCD history. I loved every moment of it.
Tracy: Sooo many! The Christopher Scott contestant and all-star routine! Alison and Logan! Koine and Marko! Lex and Gaby! Kaylee and Cyrus! But I think the one that had me the most excited was the Keone and Mari routine for Robert and Taylor! I love that duo and I thought Robert and Taylor were amazing with it! That is not easy choreography!
Terry: There were quite a few that I loved! If I had to choose just one I would have to say Koine and Marko’s “closet” contemporary routine. It was so unique and they killed it! I also loved Logan and Taylor’s Jazz number!

4. Which contestant duo had the best chemistry?
Austin: They all have great chemistry tonight! I can’t pick. I’m sorry. My answer is…ALL OF THE ABOVE.
Janine: I thought the chemistry in all 3 contestant duos was very strong!! Maybe I would give a slight edge to Lex and Koine. Their exchange in Japanese was so cute, and they make a really cute pair.
Brandon: I thought Logan and Taylor had the best onstage chemistry out of the three contestant duets. Their Mark Kanemura jazz piece, which was all about the love between a couple that eventually breaks up, wouldn’t have worked at all without it, so I was glad to see that connection between them.
Tracy: I think it’s hard not to have great chemistry during one of Doriana Sanchez’s disco routines, So Lex and Koine have my vote this week.! They did that so well! it was a heartstopper!
Terry: Logan and Taylor had such a connection performing that fantastic Jazz routine choreographed by one of my favourite past SYTYCD contestants, Mark Kanemura! Loved it!

5. Are you concerned about Lex at all? He said he was fine but clearly looked at least a bit injured.
Austin: I’m not concerned with Lex. He did look pretty banged up after that last performance, but he looked better already when he was standing on stage at the end. Dancers work through a lot of injuries and I think he can rest up, and power through one more week of SYTYCD dancing!!
Janine: Lex is clearly injured, with a rotator cuff injury in his right shoulder and a problem with one of his ankles. I am concerned about both of these injuries going into the finals where the physical demands on these dancers are highest of the entire season. Lifts will be a huge problem with the rotator cuff injury, and we saw some evidence of that in the disco routine last night where he bobbled Koine once or twice. Ankle injuries are also very serious and impact everything. I hope they give him some time to rest, as he is capable of picking up choreography quickly.
Brandon: Definitely. It was very obvious that something was wrong as he and Koine walked over to Cat after they’d finished their routine. Cat even tweeted after show that she wanted to send him over to the medic. I’ve got my fingers crossed that it’s nothing too serious, and while I know it’s common for dancers to perform with injuries, I hope he’ll be able to dance, pain-free, in next week’s performance finale so he can truly give his best.
Tracy: I was really concerned, especially when he got off the stage and they had that shot of him with, was it Gaby? Was it the medic? I wasn’t sure, but he definitely seemed to have a problem. I think I heard he did have a shoulder injury earlier in the week, and all those lifts really aggravated it. Hoping he’ll be OK for the coming week, because for the top four, it’s nonstop rehearsing for them for the last voting show
Terry: I’m very concerned about Lex! He seemed off all through the disco number with Koine and then when I found out he was injured it all made sense! Hope he heals before next week!

6. If you could bring back one eliminated dancer to join us in the finale, who would it be?
Austin: Logan. His chemistry with Allison was so great and they danced beautifully together. His lines and turns and leaps were out of this world. Plus he killed every number he performed on that stage.
Janine: I would bring back Kaylee. I feel as though she nailed every performance, no matter the style. She is also unique and very hard working. I love watching her perform!
Brandon: This is hard. There are three eliminated dancers I considered for this. It was heart-wrenching to see Logan leave tonight, but then I also thought of Dassy and Mark, both of whom killed it every single week they were on. My final pick is Dassy, because she really seemed to take to every style she was given, and was a pleasant surprise every week. Plus, being a popper, she (along with Kiki) would add a bit more dance diversity to the contemporary-heavy finale group.
Tracy: Logan. I’ve made no secret of how much I love that guy. He just as easily deserved to be in the top 4 as everyone else.
Terry: Do you even have to ask me? Dassy Lee of course!
[wp_ad_camp_2]

7. Alright, time to call it. We will probably ask again next week but – Who’s going to win it all?
Austin: LEX!!! He has done moves and tricks that I’ve never seen in my life. I didn’t even know it was physically possible to do those. He can do anything from hip hop to samba and make it appealing. Even before the top 10 were announced, I picked him to win it all.
Janine: I think Lex will win. He is very popular, versatile and a strong partner. If Lex is unable to perform in the finale due to injuries, then I think Taylor will win even though I would prefer if Koine won.
Brandon: I think it’s going to be very hard for Lex to not win at this point. He hasn’t had a single bad (or even iffy) performance this whole season, and has shown an incredible amount of power and athleticism in his solos. He shines every time he hits that stage. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s the only person in the final four who hasn’t been in the bottom three. As long as he’s healthy and able to dance next week, I see no reason why he won’t win.
Tracy: Sometimes it’s hard to say because all of a sudden, people surge. But I think it will be Lex. He just has such an interesting mix of styles, amazing lines, and has killed all his genres. He’s been so good!
Terry: Who do I want to win? Koine! Who do I think will win? Lex or Taylor! (I know, I know but I can’t pick just one!)

Final Verdict: Final Four? More like fantastic four! We love the entire group.
Lex Ishimoto is an absolute powerhouse. His technique is unparalleled and we still aren’t that he’s not secretly hiding the ability to fly. If his injury doesn’t get in the way, we say he’s got the best chance of winning this thing. Taylor Sieve is a technically superb and graceful dancer, who’s got the skills and rhythm to give Lex a run for his money. And with her emotive side improving, she’s got a great chance in the finale. In addition to being a skilled performer, Koine Iwasaki absolutely lights up any stage she steps onto. Her personality shines through every moment she is on screen, and we can’t help but root for her. Kiki Nyemcheck has been consistently improving, week after week, and has managed to pull himself out of the shadows and into the spotlight. Plus, he’s got a strong fanbase among the young female audience (for obvious reasons.) While most of our roundtable put their money on Lex (and at this point, we know better than to doubt them) it could still be anyone’s game!
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE returns next MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19th at 8/7C on FOX.
