ABC Family has cast Dominic Sherwood as “Jace Wayland,’ as the male lead for The Mortal Instruments saga series, Shadowhunters.
Get ready, Mortal Instruments fans!! After months of preparing, ABC Family has finally announced that British actor Dominic Sherwood has been cast as the gorgeous, lethal, and dangerous Jace Wayland for the Shadowhunters television show!
You may have noticed him as Christian Ozera in Vampire Academy, and was recently featured in Taylor Swift’s “Style” music video.
Jace Wayland is described as a narcissistic, and lethally gorgeous, Jace is a determined and expert Shadowhunter. A skilled soldier in a war against demons. After his father is killed, Jace makes it his life mission to seek revenge on the man who is responsible.
Based on the bestselling young adult fantasy book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, the series focuses on 18 year-old Clary Fray who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is, but comes from a long line of Shadowhunters — human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons.When her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with Jace Wayland and her best friend Simon Lewis. Now living among faeries, warlocks, vampires and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.

We can’t wait to see how Dominic plays Jace. We’ve read the novels so many times, and have seen the movie a couple times.
We know that a lot of fans who loved Jamie Campbell Bower in the 2013 film would have wanted him and the rest of the cast to return for the television show, but maybe it’s best that the show will have a clean slate —- a fresh new outlook based on the popular literature by Cassandra Clare.
