Salim is no longer a problem, but with his death comes even more questions!
SEAL Team 1×18 “Credible Threat” on CBS had us suspicious and relieved at the same time. Mandy (Jessica Pare) did what she could to get the mission to go after Salim approved. This meant that Jason (David Boreanaz) and the others had time to fit in a different mission. The team is sent to protect a group of high-ranking politicians. The group exposes themselves to a high risk situation despite the team trying to convince them otherwise. But things went from bad to worse when the team was hindered by both a sniper and Ray’s (Neil Brown Jr.) shoulder injury acting up.

When Salim makes a mysterious appearance while the SEALs are on the new mission and is subsequently shot by a sniper, the team is right back to the mystery surrounding the assassination of Echo Team. Meanwhile, Clay (Max Thieriot) and Lisa (Toni Trucks) get closer when they bond over their relationships. They also talk about their insecurities in those relationships and Lisa checks in on things back home. But when she comes up with some evidence that could damage Clay and Stella’s relationship forever, Lisa has a decision to make. Should she tell Clay what she found out, or let him figure things out on his own?

1. How do you think Mandy was able to get approval for the Salim mission so quickly?
Bryna (@Becoming_Bryna): Salim seems to have a hold on the whole area including the US government, so I’m not sure.
Manuela (@yellowhat3): Paul the journalist pulled strings with his papa because he wants him brought to justice as well.
Micha (@ciaomichaella): A well-prepared target package, a perfectly timed political photo-op, having all your ducks lined up in a row, a little bit of luck, and string pulling sure helps.
Andrea (@Andrea_Colanni): Mandy used Paul and whatever strange connections he had. But I’m really disappointed in her for it. She can do so much better than that and didn’t need Paul or his shady agenda.
Marilyn (@Marilyn72568293): Mandy definitely had all the information she needed, but it should have taken way longer to get that mission sanctioned.

2. What did you think about the unexpected appearance of Salim? Or did you think it was planned?
Bryna: It was planned by Salim. I feel Salim has someone on the inside.
Manuela: I knew there would be a nasty twist and there it was! A simple protection duty was way too lightweight for SEAL Team! It was important to poison the air with Salim trying to whisper scares into everyone’s ear! Sheesh!
Micha: That dude was corrupt and had his hands in every pot. It was not surprising at all that he was going to make an appearance.
Andrea: At first I thought it was planned, but then there was the appearance of the sniper and him taking Salim out. This has me questioning who sent Salim there. Someone must have planned to have Salim taken out.
Marilyn: I think it was planned. But I don’t think it was planned by Salim. Whoever wanted him dead not only accomplished getting him there, but accomplished what they set out to do as well.

3. Was Ray’s shoulder injury acting up a blessing in disguise?
Bryna: The jury is still out on that one. For me anyway. I have serious shoulder issues and at unexpected times they act up. I don’t want to see it affect his safety or his team’s safety.
Manuela: I was really worried he had actually completely missed the mark when he threw the grenade! Blessing in order to maybe finally admit he has an issue that he must resolve before something even more terrible happens!
Micha: I don’t know, but I cringed and am seriously worried about Ray. I hope he gets checked out ASAP and heals up 100%.
Andrea: I think so. Like Jason said, it was definitely better to have the guy alive rather than dead. If Ray’s shoulder injury hadn’t acted up at that moment, he would have ended up dead and there would be no chance to question him.
Marilyn: For multiple reasons! Not only did it prevent him from killing the sniper but it is also the sign Ray needs. It’s time for him to get that shoulder checked out for real and deal with whatever is wrong with it.

4. Lisa and Clay not only seem to be getting closer, but are looking out for each other as well. What did you think of their bonding?
Bryna: I like it. More please! He is fitting in nicely.
Manuela: I think it’s a brother and sister love. They share a common situation so it brings them closer, but if anything were to develop it wouldn’t be long-lasting I think. I’m still rooting for Sonny and Davis.
Micha: I really liked this development in their relationship. They are both dealing with the challenges of a long distance relationship and it is nice that they can relate to each other.
Andrea: I love this friendship! They already work well together so seeing them bond over personal issues felt like icing on the cake! We definitely need some more of this relationship!
Marilyn: I thought it was great. Clay really needs that type of relationship and Lisa is so understanding. She kind of seems to be the voice of reason for all the SEALs on her team. I love that she is becoming that for Clay now as well.

5. It’s quite a coincidence that Salim was taken out. Who do you think could be responsible for the hit?
Bryna: Yes. Dang. He could have been the front man. So many possibilities.
Manuela: Great question! Because I feel like being incredibly biased right now, I’ll say that Amy and her organization ordered the hit to take matters into their own hands for what happened to Team Echo.
Micha: I don’t know! It seems like every lead we get leads to another question. It certainly makes for an interesting season. Keeps fans guessing and tuning in.
Andrea: I really thought Salim was going to be at the root of everything. But with him being taken out, I feel like we are back to square one. Once again we have no idea who was behind the hit!
Marilyn: Ugh. This mystery is just a nightmare. It’s like two steps forward and twenty steps back. It’s actually getting obnoxious. Also, since I hate both of them, I’m going to say Paul and Amy have something to do with it. Don’t trust anyone new that shows up!

6. Lisa may have found something worrisome about Stella. What do you think will happen to Clay’s relationship?
Bryna: I hope it ends because he needs a strong, faithful woman due to his line of work and his heart issues with his father.
Manuela: I hope he wakes up and cuts her loose. Their relationship was a step toward his growth process and maturity. I’m looking forward to learning how he copes with love in the future.
Micha: Time will tell. I wonder if they’ll last and their relationship will be set up as a parallel to Jason and Alanna, with Clay not repeating Jason’s past mistakes?
Andrea: I shouldn’t be getting excited about this but I am. I just want the relationship between Clay and Stella to be over and I think it’s finally headed in that direction. Stella has been sketchy from the start and it’s time that Clay sees her for what she truly is.
Marilyn: It looks like the two of them will be heading toward a breakup. Things between them have been rocky for a while and this is only going to make it worse. But maybe it’s just time to call things between them. Clay needs someone a little more stable.

7. So things certainly aren’t over with the assassination of Echo Team. In fact, things only seem to have gotten deeper. Just how deep do you think the deaths go?
Bryna: It is definitely going down the rabbit hole.
Manuela: Well, so many things were uncovered. From cash and heroin to human trafficking. Then to discovering that originally Amy’s team was supposed to be in that field. All this means to me is a lot of people to silence.
Micha: It’s possible that a high level politician is connected to all of this. Maybe a senator? Or maybe I’ve just watched the movie Shooter too much. It goes pretty deep since there seems to be more and more questions as information comes to light.
Andrea: Man, this thing just keeps getting deeper every week. With only a few weeks left, I’m worried that this is going to be our cliffhanger. Especially since the show has been renewed for another season. Somebody pretty high up is obviously pulling the strings, that’s for sure.
Marilyn: I wish I knew! What I can say is that somebody pretty high up on the food chain has done something pretty bad. They would’ve had to in order to take out an entire team of SEALs and anyone who could have information on them.

Final Verdict: We’re seeing some new relationships develop as old ones may be on their way out!
It’s about time we start seeing Clay bonding with other members of the team! It took a long time for Clay to even be accepted by them. But now we get to see him getting closer to each member of the team. We have loved seeing Clay and Sonny get over their differences and work together the way they should. Now the writers have given us an even more special treat with the development of Lisa and Clay. These two make great friends and Lisa is an amazing mentor for Clay. He needs someone as patient and understanding as she is. The only thing we can hope for is to see more of this and more of Clay developing relationships with the others as well!

We’re moving on from the mystery of who was behind the killing of Echo Team. This story line feels as if it has been going on forever. With the sniper taking Salim out, we’ve now been put back to square one. This is more than a little frustrating for us, so we can’t imagine how the team must be feeling about it. Also, is Ray really not going to get his shoulder taken care of? As the pillar of honesty and the voice of reason since the beginning, this entire situation seems out of character for Ray. Hiding an injury is something we can see from the others, but not from Ray. We are finding it extremely hard to believe that he would really put the others in danger.
Next week, the injury to Ray’s shoulder may yet again put the team in a perilous situation. Ray is going undercover alone to keep an eye on a deal involving money changing hands. Meanwhile, Jason is going to be taking on a suicide bomber. With the mystery behind Echo Team getting deeper, this is definitely not the time for the team to be splitting up. Let’s just hope they are able to take care of both of these missions and solve the case on who is behind the killing of Team Echo!
