As Jason and the team begin to get answers, more questions are opened up that lead to more dangers than expected!
SEAL Team 1×14 “Call Out” on CBS had us on the edge of our seat in anticipation. As Mandy (Jessica Pare) is being drawn into a suspicious situation with a reporter named Paul, the team is dealing with a sticky situation. Jason (David Boreanaz) and the others are able to get the truth out about Azim and Tariq as newcomer Vanessa (Marsha Thomason) makes an appearance. While she seems to be a real asset to the team, Lisa (Toni Trucks) is clearly holding out on her acceptance of the new team member.

Ray (Neil Brown Jr.) and Sonny (AJ Buckley) get a few hits from Lisa’s attitude as it seems there may be something deeper going on with her. When the police commissioner seems to be the prime suspect, Jason and the team know things have taken an even more dangerous turn. How will the team proceed now that someone in a position of power may be responsible? If it is the police commissioner, what did Echo Team know that got them killed? Is there something else going on with Lisa that has her acting out in such a hostile manner? What is going on with Mandy and Paul?

1. What did you think of the truths revealed about Tariq and Azim?
Bryna (@Becoming_Bryna): Wow. For some reason, I was thinking it was his son.
Manuela (@yellowhat3): It maybe helped understand why Tariq was being blackmailed to lure Echo Team. Or maybe this “red Mercedes” guy would reveal his affair with Azim? Maybe Echo team was getting too close to discovering a major drug operation and Tariq’s secret was the perfect bait to get him to help the terrorists. I know, major speculation!
Micha (@ciaomichaella): It was a little surprising at first, but it did not distract from the overall episode.
Andrea (@Andrea_Colanni): I honestly did not see that coming. But there are so many confusing things going on, it’s still hard to pin down what exactly the truth is. I kind of thought they were related. Boy, was I wrong!
Marilyn (@Marilyn72568293): The suspicion that something deeper was going on was there, but I had absolutely no idea that was the truth! I was completely blindsided. But at the same time, it kind of made sense. Some things are coming together, but I still have questions.

2. Since Azim was insisting he and Tariq were not responsible, why didn’t he seem grateful that Jason and the team saved him?
Bryna: From one of his responses, he believed they were going to hurt him to get information, plus he could be holding info about what happened to Echo Team.
Manuela: I wonder if now he will have to face Tariq’s wife or more so have to reveal information which will make his life be even more at risk? I’m reaching.
Micha: Perhaps he still had his guard up and didn’t know who to trust. Maybe he was still in shock?
Andrea: He must have been really conflicted. Even if he was innocent, he would still be wary of SEALs. But, if he is guilty, then he knows just how far Jason’s team will be willing to go in order to get that information. I think he is guilty and terrified. Maybe he even wanted to die.
Marilyn: That’s a hard one. I have no idea what’s going on in Azim’s head. I would have to know whether or not he was guilty to really feel confident about my answer. But maybe he would rather have died than be saved. Then everything would be over for him.

3. What did you think of newcomer Vanessa Ryan? Do you think she’ll be sticking around for a while?
Bryna: I hope so! She was great! I loved her from White Collar.
Manuela: Vanessa did a good job figuring out that the civilian was deaf and helped the Team avert a terrible casualty situation. I just hope that Davis can reach a level of ease around her. I think her gut is telling her something.
Micha: It’s hard to say whether or not she’ll stick around given that characters come and go. I didn’t really know what to make of the dynamic she had with Davis at first.
Andrea: I’m not sure if she is going to stick around or not, but man I hope so! I think she will be a wonderful addition to the team. The only thing I’m really curious about is the motivation behind Lisa’s attitude towards her. That’s something I really want to see the root of.
Marilyn: I thought Vanessa seemed really tough and had a wide variety of skills. The way she handled the situations she was dealt was really impressive. Add to that she was with a whole new team! I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of Vanessa.

4. Paul Moray seems pretty intent to talk with the SEALs, do you think Mandy should trust him, or stay away and risk missing out on the possibility of answers?
Bryna: Stay away from that boy. Do not trust him
Manuela: He seems superfluous and I believe that Mandy, along with the whole SEAL Team, would figure out the answers without his help. The only thing is maybe Steve Porter from Echo Team shared intel with Paul about something they found and that is what got them killed? I got the heebie-jeebies.
Micha: It all depends on how reliable he is and how useful the information he has is to the team. We’ll have to see what happens in future episodes. What if he ends up being partially responsible for getting Echo Team killed?
Andrea: Not only do I not trust Paul, I don’t like him. I don’t even like the way he was looking at Mandy. I’m still holding on to the dream that Mandy will get together with Jason, so I don’t like anyone who could be a threat to that relationship! But Mandy has good instincts and I think she will watch herself pretty carefully around Paul.
Marilyn: Mandy is smart and resourceful. More than we know. I think she will not only see right through whatever Paul is really after but will use it to her advantage. Mandy could really play Paul and end up getting more information out of him than she has to give him. But I don’t think she will ever trust him.

5. We are left with more mystery to who is responsible for the deaths of Echo Team. Have we already met the person responsible, or will there be more suspects coming into play?
Bryna: I think there is more to the story and we will hear from Azim in the future.
Manuela: Vanessa is still a mystery and could be involved somehow or maybe more suspects will come out. Still, need motive which isn’t a hundred percent clear.
Micha: Time will tell.
Andrea: Such a hard question! We aren’t really used to seeing storylines last more than one episode so I think this one has us all off kilter. It makes things more confusing and ramps our anxiety levels up. I really don’t think we’ve seen who is responsible yet.
Marilyn: Is it bad if I say the police commissioner? There is something distinctly shady about that guy, and I just feel like he is dirty and behind it all. The position of power he is in would make for an easy cover-up.

6. If Vanessa hadn’t been with Jason’s team and thought to use sign language to communicate with the woman, what would the team have done?
Bryna: For the sake of safety, they would have dropped her.
Manuela: Great question! I think that Jason would have sent Cerberus over to check her for explosives and she would have to stop when he approaches.
Micha: Sad to say, but it looked like they might’ve shot the woman. I mean, that’s the direction things seemed to be heading to before commercial break and Vanessa stepping in to use sign language.
Andrea: Unfortunately, I think they would’ve shot her. But only because they are so trained to protect themselves in a situation that they would not have had a choice. I am surprised that none of the others knew sign language or thought to try that. But it is a good thing Vanessa was there! See, we need her!
Marilyn: Yikes. I really thought she was going to be shot. But because I didn’t know she was deaf at first, I thought she might have been dangerous. I’m glad Vanessa stepped in, but I wouldn’t have blamed the team if they had to shoot her either.

7. With the police commissioner now nearing a prime suspect, how will Jason and the rest of the team continue their investigation?
Bryna: Very carefully.
Manuela: They need to establish motive and maybe also ask Azim to ID people from pictures they have found of possible people connected to the explosion.
Micha: I believe in the team – they will find a way to get to the bottom of things.
Andrea: I’m really worried that things might get dangerous for the team even on the home front. For some reason, I feel like Mandy is going to be the one to dig deeper into the police commissioner and it has me worried for her. I have a conspiracy theory that Paul is in on it and Mandy is going to get herself in too deep. We’ll see!
Marilyn: Wow. Part of me thinks the police commissioner will get that they are on to him and shut the whole thing down. The other part thinks that would be too obvious and he knows that, so he will just try to cover his tracks better. I’m definitely biting my nails over what will happen.

Final Verdict: Just when we think we know the answers, yet another wrench gets thrown into the equation!
While we knew something was up with Azim and Tariq, we certainly weren’t expecting them to be lovers. Between Azim’s own people seemingly wanting him dead, and Jason’s team suspecting him of the murders of Team Echo, we can understand how he may not have wanted to be saved. Then things got more complicated with Paul and the police commissioner being added to the equation. Jason and his team are dealing with an extremely delicate situation and it has us worried for each and every one of them, including Mandy. The writing is beyond amazing and has us hooked on every moment. We’re literally on the edge of our seats.

Even though this storyline is great and has all the suspense we could ever want, it has us thrown off a bit as well. We aren’t used to seeing a mystery last more than an episode and this one seems like it may just take us to the end of the season. While this could be a good thing, a great thing even, it just seems strange to switch things up. We go into the episode thinking this is going to be it and things are going to be solved, only to get more questions and fewer answers. Let’s just hope the hole everyone seems to be digging doesn’t get too deep!
The next episode is coming at us fast! Next week is really teasing us about the conclusion to who had Echo Team killed. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that it really is the week we get to see some closure on this! “No Man’s Land” will be all about the money trail and it leads the team directly to a heroin farm. This certainly doesn’t seem like any less of a volatile situation than the one they just got out of, but we will just have to keep faith in our favorite team!
