Hot Topic: New television series from Dennis Kelly and a new logo to go with Doctor Who’s Thirteenth Doctor!
Dennis Kelly, the creator of Utopia, is looking to head up the television adaptation of Consider Phlebas. This is the first novel in the ten novel Culture series by Iain M. Banks. Amazon Studios has obtained the global television rights to the series.
Not only has Doctor Who completely changed things with their Thirteenth Doctor, but they are changing their logo as well! The new logo is extremely different from all of the show’s previous logos. This isn’t the only change seen as the series will no longer have Murray Gold as the music composer. Gold had been with the series since 2005.
Guess Who: The Orville is adding a new crew member! Chris Johnson joins season 2!
The crew of The Orville will be a bit larger when the show returns for a second season. TVAD Writers Room: We’ve got our scene stealer for Altered Carbon’s first season: Martha Higareda!
The new Netflix original series Altered Carbon certainly wasn’t lacking for talent, but there was one that stood out above the rest. Check out our Scene Stealer article on Martha Higareda and her portrayal of Kristin Ortega! This sassy detective wasn’t taking anyone’s nonsense and Higareda played the part to perfection. When she first comes on screen, Ortega seems cool, calm and collected. But it doesn’t take long for things to escalate and become violent!
Interviews: Naren Shankar talks The Expanse season three and Joel Kinnaman isn’t ruling out another season of Altered Carbon!
While Joel Kinnaman is now in the process of filming a new television series, Hanna, that doesn’t mean we won’t get to see him on another season of Altered Carbon. That is, if there will be a second season. Check out what Kinnaman had to say about the future of the Netflix hit.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen. No one does, really. Season two hasn’t been picked up yet, so who knows? I loved making this show. I had a great experience. The feedback has been fantastic. But I have no idea what’s going on with the second season.”
Naren Shankar answered a lot of speculative questions when it came to The Expanse and how the television show will differ from the continuing novel series. Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck have been in the process of continuing the novel series since the television adaptation first began. Not only is Shankar excited about the third season of the show, but for the overall future of it as well.
“We’re adapting their books and their books are adapting the show. And then we’re adapting the books that are adapting the show. So, hopefully, we’ll get to go all the way to the end. It would be fascinating.”
