Peter Pan is flying from Neverland into the DC Universe on Supergirl!
The casting news for these comic book shows never takes a break, do they? In other words, we have zero problems with getting exciting news about both new and old shows in the superhero genre. As it’s the start of a brand new week, we have a new piece of Supergirl casting as TVLine broke the news that Levi Miller, the star of the upcoming Warner Bros’ Peter Pan adaptation Pan, has joined the upcoming DC Comics series as Carter Grant, the son of Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart). Here is his character description:
“12-year-old Carter is “sensitive and shy” and “couldn’t be more different from his mom.” As Melissa Benoist’s Kara babysits her boss’s son and gets to know him better, “Carter finally opens up to her — revealing his true feelings for Supergirl.”
The connection between Supergirl and Pan is none other than executive producer Greg Berlanti (show-runner of CW’s Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, NBC’s Blindspot and Mysteries of Laura) who was on the producer’s team for the upcoming Warner Bros. Pictures film which stars Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard and is set to come out on October 9th. In a statement to TVLine, Berlanti said the following about Miller joining Berlanti’s adventures on television:
“We loved working with him so much on Pan, we were excited to bring him into Supergirl‘s universe. He’s an exceptional young actor and a part of the Berlanti Productions family. It will be fun for audiences, who we know will fall in love with him as Peter in Pan on Oct 9, to see his range with his turn as Calista Flockhart’s American son.”
As the article also points out that Carter is not based on Cat’s son in the comic books, Adam Morgan who in the comics was known for being murdered by the villainous Winslow Schott a.k.a. the Toyman. On Supergirl, Winslow ‘Wynn’ Schott is played by Jeremy Jordan and is working for Cat herself at CatCo as a programmer. I guess that we should all get a tiny bit nervous every time Carter and Wynn are in the same scene as I’m sure there will be an Easter Egg or nod towards that storyline, even though the Wynn on the show is good…for now. Miller is scheduled to make his debut on Supergirl in the fourth episode of the first season.
