Starz releases the Outlander Season 3 Premiere Date!
The end is nigh for Droughtlander, y’all! If you’ve been going through Jamie withdrawals since the season finale of Outlander last July, you’re in good company. But Starz took pity on us! They’ve released the season 3 key art and premiere date! Exactly 59 days from today we can all be staring blissfully at James Fraser himself and see what happened to him at the Battle of Culloden. Which we’ve had to wait over a year for (we’re totally still not over this).

Additionally, Starz released a little teaser that’s got us shook.
Lost in time but never forgotten. Don’t miss the #Outlander Season 3 premiere September 10 on @STARZ. pic.twitter.com/T8XsWvINiW

It’s got Claire, some voiceover, mist, the stones- And of course, Jamie. And his butt looks great in those britches. The key art is pretty great as well, with Claire in the 60’s on her side of the stones and Jamie back in the 18th century. Let’s hope they don’t stay apart for too long. According to Starz, the key art was shot by photographer Jason Bell.
Some important things to note about the premiere. It seems that Starz has juggled the time. The third season will be back on Sunday, September 10th at 8PM ET/PT. This is a change from seasons past, which aired both on Saturday evening and at 9.
The third season will include 13 episodes based upon Voyager, the third of eight books in Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling Outlander series. “Outlander” will attend Comic-Con International: San Diego again this summer. The Starz booth this year will be Outlander themed, there’s a panel on Friday, July 21st at 5 PM PT and there will be an autograph session on Saturday the 22nd. Stick with us here at TV After Dark for all of the Outlander coverage from SDCC!
From Starz:
The third season of “Outlander” picks up right after Claire (Caitriona Balfe) travels through the stones to return to her life in 1948. Now pregnant with Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) child, she struggles with the fallout of her sudden reappearance and its effect on her marriage to her first husband, Frank (Tobias Menzies). Meanwhile, in the 18th century, Jamie suffers from the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the historic battle of Culloden, as well as the loss of Claire. As the years pass, Jamie and Claire attempt to make a life apart from one another, each haunted by the memory of their lost love. The budding possibility that Claire can return to Jamie in the past breathes new hope into Claire’s heart… as well as new doubt. Separated by continents and centuries, Claire and Jamie must find their way back to each other. As always, adversity, mystery, and adventure await them on the path to reunion. And the question remains: When they find each other, will they be the same people who parted at the standing stones, all those years ago?
Diana Gabaldon’s eight-book Outlander series has sold more than 28 million copies worldwide and all the books have graced the New York Times best-sellers list. The “Outlander” series spans the genres of history, science fiction, romance and adventure in one amazing tale. The second season of “Outlander” won the Critics’ Choice Award for Most Bingeworthy Show, and four People’s Choice Awards, including Favorite TV Show.
Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Matthew B. Roberts, Toni Graphia, Anne Kenney and Andy Harries serve as executive producers of “Outlander,” which is produced by Tall Ship Productions, Story Mining & Supply Company and Left Bank Pictures in association with Sony Pictures Television.
The marathon third season production filmed across ten months in its home base in Scotland, followed by Cape Town, South Africa, to shoot pivotal sea voyage scenes on the former sets of the STARZ original series “Black Sails.”
