It’s the Time Bureau vs. our favorite legendary heroes; who’s going to save the world?!

Our favorite heroes are back! Which heroes, you ask? Only the snarkiest, funniest, time-traveling team of heroes who - as Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) said - Sometimes screw things up for the better. The Time Bureau is a new team that Rip put together in the last 5 years he has been gone. Last year, our heroes saved the world, and this year it’s… full of Dinosaurs and Julius Caesar. The team had to get day jobs; your typical, working in retail or start-up tech company, jobs. And let’s just say, maybe they should stick to their night jobs instead.

It wasn’t a surprise to see Mick vacationing in Aruba while his team had everyday jobs. But what’s vacationing in Aruba without accidentally stumbling upon the Roman General, Julius Caesar? That wouldn’t be fun at all. While Sara was busy “working” at “Sink, Shower and Stuff,” her old buddy Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell) called her saying he had Julius Caesar tied up in his hotel. Sara quit that job faster than Gideon could get them to another time in history. There were a lot of things happening in this episode, and so many things to discuss. So let’s introduce you to our awesome Legends of Tomorrow fans who have all sorts of opinions.

1. Rip Hunter vs. Captain Sara Lance! What did you think of the new Time Bureau and how they were treating the Legends’?

Tim (@LegendsOfLaurel): I can’t believe Rip actually thought the Legends would disband without a fight. He knows it has only been 15 minutes for them, so it was just straight up rude to treat his friends that way.

Tish (@caitybettlotz): The thing that bothered me most about the time bureau and the way they acted is the fact that rip has constantly told the legends that they’re the best team and he’s always relied on them to do stuff. Rip just seems so out of character, after 2 seasons of going through everything they have I don’t believe that he’d just stop trusting them to do what he’s told them to do for a while. When Rip handed off the position of captain to sara he shouldn’t have turned around and tried to create something to replace them. I also find it hard to believe that rip could’ve formed the bureau, even in 5 years I hope we see more of how it all came to because right now I don’t really see how he could’ve done all this.

Anna (@katiesmcgth): I really, truly have tried so hard to like Rip for the past two seasons, but this episode definitely solidified my strong dislike of him. I honestly just think he’s entirely ungrateful, especially since, had it not been for the Legends, he would still be a college film student making a movie about the same Legends he seems to dislike so much. Not to mention how they saved him from being a brainwashed puppet for the Legion of Doom. I know the Legends aren’t the most professional people, but showing them a little respect would definitely not hurt, Rip. The Time Bureau are just the perfect amount of snobby and annoying for them to contrast perfectly with the Legends. I know there’s definitely going to be a more serious big bad this year, but I do love the Bureau acting as an antagonist in their own right.

Nyssa (@lancealotz): I don’t like the way Rip is treating them. I think the Time Bureau treats the Legends badly because Rip does. He’s being rude and makes it seem like they are incapable. He’s forgetting that they saved the world..TWICE. I also don’t like he tried to belittle Sara.

2. These everyday heroes… aren’t that great at everyday jobs. What are your hopes for the characters and the team this season?

Tim: I actually hope they remain as messy as they are. All of the other superhero shows try balancing heroic values, doing things the right way and still having action sequences. The Legends just don’t care about what way they succeed in or what repercussions there are, which makes them so much fun to watch. I don’t think the show would remain as fun to watch, if the Legends cleaned up their act.

Tish: I loved the whole day jobs thing, it’s one of the things I love most about legends. They have this humorous and lovable quality the other 3 shows have shielded away from and replaced with drama and angst. Sara definitely had the funniest job it was funny seeing her being a regular person, I would have loved to see how they all got the jobs though I think that would’ve been hilarious.

Anna: My major hope for this season is that they keep building the group dynamic, which has really become the heart of the show for me. I want to keep seeing the almost sibling-like moments between Sara and Jax, or the contrast of Amaya and Mick’s personalities. I would also like to see the characters have more focused arcs this year, though I know that’s difficult when it’s a big, ensemble cast like this one. I also just really want the Legends to get some respect, and I can’t imagine the writers introducing the Time Bureau without giving the Legends the payoff of gaining the Bureau’s respect by the end of the season.

Nyssa: I just hope they continue to bond and have each other’s backs. Last season it was “if one person fights, we all fight.” “If you hurt one of us, we hurt all of you.” And I loved that. I love how much they love each other and I hope that continues.

3. What do you think of Zari and her place on the team in the future?

Tim: I am so excited to meet Zari soon! Having another girl on board will really alter the dynamics as there have never been three girls before. I’m looking forward to her lack of optimism that has been teased because the Legends always seem to think everything will work out, so some realism might actually be a nice addition.

Tish: I think that Zari should’ve told Nate the truth if she really did choose to go back out of her own volition. I’m also really curious about how she developed her powers because I don’t seem to recall the control of more than one animal at a time being within her capabilities. I do hope she works with the legends again occasionally but ultimately she’s needed back home and I think it’ll help grow her character immensely.

Anna: I’m so excited to be introduced to Zari, and to see how her presence changes the team dynamic. I think it could be really fun to have someone who’s extremely cynical and jaded joining this team of heroes that genuinely believe they’re doing some good by fixing the past, while the future remains horrible. I think it will be interesting to see how reluctant she is to fix certain situations in history that could potentially change the future for the better if they were to just let it be. I think she could really clash with Ray, which would be really fun to see.

Nyssa: I’m excited to meet Zari. From what I’ve seen in the promos she looks like a great character. I’ve also heard that she is Muslim and I love that they’re including that on the show. Zari is going to be awesome.

4. What do you think is going to happen to the Firestorm now?

Tim: I do think they teased the separation of Jax and Marty, which is something I won’T be too sad about. I’m sure they can find another counterpart for Jax in all of history and maybe this one will even be interesting.

Tish: I guess we’ve all seen the reports about Victor leaving the show and it’s sad because he and Jax have developed a really strong bond which was growing stronger each day. But I have this running personal theory about Lily stein being the other half of firestorm so I’m excited to see where this all goes and if she does wound up with the firestorm mantle it’d be amazing!

Anna: With all the news out of Victor Garber’s departure, I believe Lily will take over for her dad as the other half of Firestorm. I think Victor leaving has been in the works for a while now, and creating Lily was all part of that plan. I am genuinely excited to see how Jax and Lily’s dynamic would be different to that of Jax and Stein, though losing Stein will be unbelievably upsetting. Losing that mentor character for Jax will be devastating, and I’m nervous for how he’ll deal with this loss. I am genuinely so sad to see Victor go, but I am still excited to see what they end up doing with Firestorm in the future.

Nyssa: I think that they are going to bring a version of Ronnie on the waverider and he is going to join the team.

5. Who did you miss the most, and who do you think kicked the most butt in the premiere?

Tim: I missed Amaya a lot, which is sad because she was barely even in the premiere, but I am so excited to see what she has been up to. Legends has always made a point to show Sara kicking the most butt, which is very appreciated, but I also was really happy to see Nate not giving up being a hero after coming back to 2017.

Tish: I miss Kendra! I know she wasn’t the most popular character but I believe she had so much potential and there were so many directions her character could’ve gone! Without a shadow of a doubt, Sara kicked the most ass in the premiere. All the acrobatics and maneuvers were so impressive and every day caity lotz continues to surprise me with her skill and attitude towards doing things like her own stunts.

Anna: I really missed Amaya in the premiere, and I was a little scared she wouldn’t be in the episode at all besides that little bit in the beginning. Seeing her at the end was amazing, though! That scene of her defending Zambesi was awesome, and I kinda hope she stays there for a little bit. Although Amaya had that badass scene at the end, Sara totally kicked major ass this episode. That scene of her fighting Julius Caesar on the beach was so badass, as well as the stunt of her running on the shields

Nyssa: I missed Amaya! She’s one of my favorite characters and I was a little disappointed that she wasn’t there. I hope she’s in next weeks episode. And Sara definitely kicked the most ass this episode. Caity’s stunt with her running on the shields was one of my favorite parts of the episode.

6. Wally made an appearance! Do you like when there are little cameos like that? Who would you love to see make a random appearance from other DCTV shows?

Tim: More Wally is always appreciated, considering how underused he is even on The Flash. I like these small cameos much more than the big crossovers because those always seem to let me down and these are always just surprising. I would love to see some of the new Team Arrow recruits meet the Legends for a quick scene because they are a lot of fun and especially Rene would actually fit in really well with the Legends.

Tish: Yes! All the little cameos are so nice to see, I love it when the DCTV shows are more interconnected I think that this’ll make things better during the crossover event because some of the characters who aren’t usually in the spotlight might be able to connect with characters from the other shows better since they’ve already met. I’d love to see Nyssa make an appearance on legends of tomorrow honestly, she’s such an amazing character!

Anna: I loved that Wally cameo! He’s so cute, and that scene was so funny in showing Nate’s misfortunes in his attempts at superhero-ing. I really just want an episode where the Legends mistakenly end up on Earth-38, that’s all I want. I need scenes of just those casts interacting because those characters are so different, and their dynamics would be hilarious. I mean, seeing J’onn and Mick in the same scene would be amazing.

Nyssa: I love when this happens! It’s a reminder that everyone knows everyone and it feels like one big family. I would love to see Black Siren make an appearance on Legends of Tomorrow. I would love to see what Sara’s reaction would be to meeting Laurel, with it not being her Laurel. I think it would be interesting.

7. Favorite thing that happened this episode?

Tim: The final shot of Amaya using her increased powers left me breathless. It was so beautiful and powerful.

Tish: My favourite thing that happened this episode has got to be Sara fighting julius caeser at that beach frat party. The action, the comedy, the one-liners, it was amazing!

Anna: I loved the moment when Sara, Nate, and Ray were at the Time Bureau HQ and they ran into King Arthur, and Sara hides her face and looks away. That was such a small moment, but an amazing nod to one of my all-time favorite LoT moments of Sara and Guinevere. I would love to see Sara become Sara Lancelot again this season!

Nyssa: My favorite thing about this episode was Sara “working” at sink shower and stuff. Those scenes were so funny. It’s exactly what I imagined Sara working in retail being like. I also like the banter between Sara and Agent Sharpe. A future romance maybe?

Final Verdict: Season 3 brought back the team that we love so much - Rip and the Time Bureau are annoying, but the Legends are back to sharing quips and kicking ass.

Everyone seems to agree that anyone who messes with Sara, isn’t going to fair too great. The final scene with Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) is one that we all loved, and are looking forward to seeing more of her. The Legends aren’t your typical heroes, but they do their missions their way and get it done better than anyone else. Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) seems to have it out for the team, and everyone’s a little confused why, but hopefully, time will tell, and we’ll find out what happened in those five years.

It will be nice to see Amaya again and see what she’s been up to. It was a bit disappointing that she was only in the last couple of minutes, but it looks like something big is coming up for her.

We cannot wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for us. With new characters joining the team, perhaps a duo splitting up, and more Mick one-liners, season three looks to be an excellent season. Zari (Tala Ashe) is finally going to be joining the show, as we’ve heard so much about her already. Bring us more of the Legends family, and the witty comments, and we’re all set to watch some more.
