ICYMI: The Game of Thrones Season 9 premiere month revealed, Chai Hansen joins Shadowhunters, and the Charmed alums aren’t going all in for The CW’s plan for a reboot

Hello and welcome to another edition of Fantasy After Dark!

In case you missed it, we finally know the month that Game of Thrones will return, thanks to Maisie Williams. She revealed in an interview that filming wraps in December of 2018 and the first episode will air in April of 2019! She said there’s a lot going into the editing process so it will be sure to expect no less than great.

Shadowhunters also has a new cast member! Chai Hansen has joined the hit Freeform series from The CW’s The 100. He will portray a book favorite from the books, Jordan Kyle.

In other news, The CW announced plans to reboot the hit classic Charmed and the original cast is allegedly not happy about it. Holly Marie Combs sent a series of tweets about the reboot, saying “Charmed belongs to the 4 of us, our vast amount of writers, crews and predominantly by the fans.” The series starred Combs along with Shannen Doherty, Alyssa Milano, and Rose McGowan. The CW unveiled a new storyline that would move their story into the present day, and claims it would be a “feminist reboot.” We aren’t sure how Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan, especially, would take that news.

Guess Who: Princess Tiana has her Prince Naveen in Once Upon A Time

One of the stars of Freeform’s  Beyond, Jeff Pierre, has been cast as Prince Naveen for Season 7 of ABC’s hit fantasy series, Once Upon A Time! Pierre will play the prince from the Disney tale The Princess and the Frog when the series introduces the characters in the March 9 episode titled “A Taste of the Heights”. Once Upon A Time’s seventh season will return Friday, March 2 on ABC!

Interviews: The Magicians’ Arjun Gupta on Penny’s Death

Spoiler alert! In case you missed last week’s episode of SYFY‘s The Magicians, your favorite Traveler, William “Penny” Adiyodi, has died. He had been dealing with “super cancer” but Julia and Kady summoned a demon that is able to feed on cancer to try to save Penny. It was sadly too late and Penny died while the demon was still feeding on him.  The actor who played Penny, Arjun Gupta, spoke about Penny’s death.

“We’re kept on our toes a lot. I was pretty surprised, but I was really excited — excited that they were going to take that risk and that the show was creating a world where consequences were real. Penny’s almost died two or three times already, so I think that if Penny didn’t die and face a new challenge, the audience might get complacent and thinking, “Oh, stakes aren’t really life or death if everyone always finds a way out of it.”‒ Arjun Gupta (Penny)

Coming Soon: First official photos of Danneel Ackles in Supernatural revealed!

Talk about a family affair! A few months ago we announced that Danneel Ackles will be joining her husband Jensen Ackles after 13 years of him on The CW’s Supernatural. Well, the official photos have now been revealed! Danneel will appear in the second half of the 13th season as a faith healer named Sister Jo who becomes involved somehow with Lucifer. She will appear in episode 13 of season 13, “The Devil’s Bargain.”
