Casper Crump joins the DC Universe as famous Baddie Vandal Savage on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow!
Yesterday, it was announced that Reckless actor Falk Hentschel has been cast in the role of Carter Hall a.k.a. Hawkman on the upcoming Arrow/The Flash spin-off series, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. The only character that was left to cast was the antagonist for the first season of the show, Vandal Savage who was mentioned in the teaser trailer for the show, back in May. But the search is over as multiple outlets are reporting that actor Casper Crump has landed the role of the immortal DC Comics baddie for the new series. There is more fun to this casting news as Crump, who will be the first actor to ever play this character in live-action, will be making his debut as Savage in the CW/DC Universe during the upcoming Arrow/The Flash crossover event in the fall, just like Hentschel’s Hawkman will do.
Here is how the network describes Savage in the CW/DC Universe:
“Vandal has spent the last 6,000 years moving through time like a “virulent disease.” He’s been “whispering in the ears of despots and dictators” leading to “his eventual domination of the world.”
Crump joins fellow DC’s Legends of Tomorrow stars, Arthur Darvill (Rip Hunter), Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/The Atom), Ciara Renée (Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl), Victor Garber (Professor Martin Stein), Caity Lotz (Sara Lance/White Canary), Franz Drameh (Jay Jackson), Wentworth Miller (Leonard Snart/Captain Cold), Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory/Heat Wave) and Falk Hentschel (Carter Hall/Hawkman). Production on the pilot (that has yet to announce a director for it yet) is said to begin sometime in September in Vancouver, Canada. Crump can be next seen in David Yates’ upcoming Tarzan adaptation as Captain Kerchover in 2016 with Margot Robbie and Alexander Skarsgård.
“When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?”
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is slated to premiere during early mid-season of 2016, on The CW.
Catch the season premieres of The Flash and Arrow on Tuesday October 6 and October 7, respectively, both at 8/7c.
