ICYMI: Estelle Parsons and Sandra Bernhard to Return for Roseanne Revival, Blake Anderson and David Hornsby to Star in CBS Developed Comedy, TBS Gains Rerun Rights for Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Uproxx reported that Roseanne fan-favorites Estelle Parsons and Sandra Bernhard are to return for the ABC 2018 revival, as Beverly Harris and Nancy Bartlett. All of this and more is announced in last week’s Comedy After Dark. Make sure to check out what you may have missed.
Blake Anderson and David Hornsby are attached to write and star in a comedy developed by CBS. Anderson and Hornsby are also executive producers to the project. The currently untitled single-camera comedy would follow a high-strung father (Hornsby) who must deal with a new family dynamic when his ex-wife marries a younger, free-spirited dude (Anderson) who becomes the stepdad to his children.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine will stay on televisions a little longer after TBS has gained rerun rights from Universal Television, Variety reports. TBS will carry “Brooklyn” episodes on Thursdays from 7-11 p.m. starting Jan. 4. The show will also be available for authenticated streaming via the TBS app.

Guess Who: Catherine Keener to Star in Showtime’s Kidding Opposite Jim Carrey
Catherine Keener has been cast in the upcoming Jim Carrey Showtime series “Kidding,” Variety has reported. Carrey will star as Jeff, aka Mr. Pickles, an icon of children’s television who also anchors a multimillion-dollar branding empire. Keener will play Deirdre, who thanklessly builds all the puppets on the hit children’s show hosted by Jeff while never being allowed to voice them.

Grown-Ish creator sat with Variety on how a meme that said, ‘Where would Zoey go to college?’ inspired the Black-Ish spin-off. The image sparked “Grown-ish,” an offshoot following the Johnsons’ eldest daughter, Zoey, portrayed by Yara Shahidi, as she heads to college.

Coming Soon: ABC orders Kenya Barris, Alec Baldwin, Julie Bean Multi-Camera Series, ABC Sets Roseanne Revival’s Premiere Date
ABC has ordered a multi-camera, straight-to-series comedy starring Kenya Barris, Alec Baldwin, and Julie Bean, Variety has learned. All three actors will executive produce the show, as well as Barris and Bean serving as showrunners and writers. The untitled series follows a stuck-in-his-ways, opinionated, fading TV star who moves in with his progressive daughter, her girlfriend and the child they are raising together.
According to Variety, ABC has also set the release date for the Roseanne revival: March 27 at 8 p.m ET/PT in a special hour-long premiere.
