Charles and Jake have to rely on Adrian when Charles’ food truck is set on fire as Rosa makes Amy look for her wedding dress!
Brooklyn Nine-Nine 5×18, “Gray Star Mutual” on FOX brought back Adrian Pimento (Jason Mantzoukas) on a new career path as an insurance investigator. But it clearly hasn’t helped with his anger issues. When he discovers that Jake (Andy Samberg) and Amy (Melissa Fumero) are getting married and no one told him, he attempts to deny Charles’ (Joe Lo Truglio) insurance claim as revenge. But Jake and Charles are determined to solve the case of who burned down Charles’ food truck and make sure he gets the insurance check.

Meanwhile, Amy and Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) team up on a case and getting Amy a wedding dress. Gina (Chelsea Peretti) and Terry (Terry Crews) are also teaming up to help Captain Holt (Andre Braugher). Their mission to convince him that a better social media presence will help his campaign for commissioner. But Holt is more interested in an honest and informative campaign than getting retweeted by the mayor. Though Cheddar did seem to be pretty popular with his Instagram game.

1. Did you like seeing Amy and Rosa team up for a case this week?
Christina (@OddlyUnromantic): I loved it! Rosa and Amy are my girls!
Kaysi (@lilithsternin): I loved it! Amy and Rosa definitely have had their differences. But they really make a wonderful team. It was great seeing them work together.
Aurora (@aurorasblog): I loved it! What a fantastic idea!
Marilyn (@Marilyn72568293): Every time Rosa and Amy team up, it’s pure magic! I love seeing these two on-screen together.
Pamela (@CharlesonPamela): Rosa and Amy are extremely different, but I think it makes them even closer as friends. Watching them team up is one of my favorite things!

2. What did you think about Adrian making a reappearance to the show as an insurance investigator?
Christina: That was such a curveball! I never could’ve imagined Adrian as an insurance investigator. It was hilarious though.
Kaysi: Pimento is ridiculously wonderful. I always enjoy seeing Jason Mantzoukas on the show!
Aurora: I loved that they weave him into the episode!
Marilyn: It definitely came as a surprise. I honestly didn’t think we would see Adrian again after he and Rosa broke up. The story line was great!
Pamela: Every time Adrian makes an appearance, it’s sure to be hilarious. This time was no different!

3. Holt obviously shouldn’t have social media accounts. But do you agree with Terry and Gina that if he had used them properly, they could improve his chances of winning?
Christina: Social media nowadays is important, so yeah, if Holt has a social media account it could help him.
Kaysi: Yeah, I agree with Terry and Gina. Social media can certainly bring more awareness to him and would likely help him out. But I also completely see Holt’s point!
Aurora: Totally. Social media is an incredible tool, and I think more often than not, it’s helpful.
Marilyn: I think if he used them properly, they could definitely help. But it’s also clear that Holt will never use them correctly! Even if he learns about them, he doesn’t agree with how others use it.
Pamela: Maybe. But at the same time, anyone who knows Holt knows that he is the best one for the job. He doesn’t need social media to win.

4. Did it surprise you to see that Rosa was being so encouraging about Amy being excited to look for her wedding dress?
Christina: Not really. Underneath that bad ass exterior, Rosa is sweet and kind.
Kaysi: A little bit because wedding dress shopping doesn’t seem like something Rosa would be interested in. But she definitely cares about Amy and wants her to be happy. So the encouragement was really nice to see.
Aurora: Yes! I loved the reminder that being a badass doesn’t mean you have to look down your nose at classically feminine things.
Marilyn: I was a little surprised. Not because I doubt how much Rosa cares about Amy. But because dress shopping is so not usually Rosa’s deal.
Pamela: Not really. Rosa has shown how big her heart is this season. She’s really opening up and showing her support for Amy goes right along with that. I loved it!

5. Adrian went a little off the rails because of not being kept up to date about news from the precinct. Did you expect this type of reaction from him, or did it surprise you?
Christina: This actually did surprise me! I knew Adrian liked everyone, but I had no idea how nuts not being in the loop about everyone would make him.
Kaysi: I never know what type of reaction to expect from him! He always manages to surprise me.
Aurora: It would be more surprising to me if he didn’t. That’s who Adrian is.
Marilyn: I was a little surprised. Just because no matter how crazy Adrian gets, he is always loyal. This really took a turn for the worst.
Pamela: I wasn’t really surprised. Adrian is always going nuts. But it did surprise me that he turned on Jake and Charles. That didn’t really seem like him.

6. Amy said she was keeping her dress searching quiet because of being a female sergeant. But do you think there was more to it?
Christina: There might be something more to it. It seemed like there was, but I can also see her keeping quiet because of being a female sergeant.
Kaysi: Yeah, I think it’s possible. I don’t think Amy would have been searching for wedding dresses at work even before she was sergeant. So yeah, I think it’s very likely there was more to it.
Aurora: I have no reason not to believe that. But if there is a secret guess, I would love to hear it!
Marilyn: It seemed like there was. I don’t know, something just seemed really off about the entire situation. Amy could have been excited about her wedding dress without anyone from work knowing.
Pamela: Something weird is definitely going on. Maybe Amy is just scared about getting married? I don’t know.

7. So Charles is officially out of the food truck business. DO you think this is for the best?
Christina: Absolutely! It was for the best! He’s way too nuts!
Kaysi: Definitely. His food truck business was causing him so much unnecessary stress. So, yeah, it was for the best.
Aurora: Yes! The food truck brought out the worst in him. It didn’t seem to add any joy, or really anything of value, to his life. He has a super full life without it.
Marilyn: Definitely for the best! Personally, I think this entire food truck was a bad idea right from the beginning. I’m really glad the entire thing is over.
Pamela: Oh yes. The only decision that could have been better would have been Charles never investing in a food truck in the beginning.

Final Verdict: We loved seeing Charles say goodbye to that food truck and Amy and Rosa are the ultimate dynamic duo!
Not only was it great to see Amy’s vulnerable side this week, but it was even better seeing Rosa being her main supporter. Every time we see Rosa giving a pep talk, we cheer! Then we got an added bonus of seeing Adrian make his return. He always brings adventures full of laughs with him and this time was no different. We loved every second of seeing him team up with Charles and Jake. Except for when things took a turn and Adrian attempted to screw Charles over with his entire food truck situation. Though, we certainly are able to say we are excited to see Charles done with the food truck without any regret.

While we enjoy Adrian coming back, we don’t know where his betrayal came from. Adrian is crazy, but he’s always been pretty loyal to the 99th precinct. Seeing him turn on Charles and Jake wasn’t something that seemed very Adrian like. We know he’s crazy. He has always been crazy and that’s something we know will never change. But we just didn’t find it too believable that he would try to cheat Jake and Charles out of the insurance money for the food truck. Then when he went completely crazy and took things to a whole other level, we really couldn’t believe what we were seeing. We definitely didn’t like it.
Next week things are going to be all about Amy and Jake! Just the way we love it! It’s time for the bachelor and bachelorette party. Naturally, things are going to go bad as they always do. Not only does Charles plan a scavenger hunt that is sure to go sideways, but Amy encounters someone from her past. Someone that she has slept with and is supposed to be a part of her wedding band. Yikes!
