Want to Meet the Stars of WGN America’s Underground?
Do you love to meet the stars of fantastic television shows? Great news for you! The stars of WGN America’s breakout hit Underground, a thriller about the Underground Railroad in the American South, will be on the main stage at the 2016 Essence Festival, the nation’s premiere showcase for African American music and culture.
Aldis Hodge (Noah), Amirah Vann (Ernestine) and Alano Miller (Cato) will all appear with director and executive producer Anthony Hemingway to discuss the phenomenon the action-packed record-breaking series has become during a panel discussion at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on Friday, July 1st from 12:15-12:35 pm. Additionally, some lucky Underground fans will have the opportunity to meet Hodge, Vann, Miller and Hemingway during an exclusive Fan Zone event following the main stage event.
From executive producer John Legend and creators and executive producers Misha Green and Joe Pokaski, “Underground” tells the unflinching story of some of America’s most heroic freedom fighters—slaves who risked their lives to reach freedom and claim their civil rights. The critically lauded series was recently nominated for a Television Critics Association award for Outstanding New Program. Season two will begin production this summer for a 2017 debut.
Missed Underground and are dying to catch up? WGN America will be airing a marathon of the season July 2nd.
