The Bold Type take to the pink carpet to celebrate special screening in New York!
Freeform’s newest series, The Bold Type is set to premiere on Tuesday, July 11th at 9/8c, so it’s only fitting that Executive Producers Joanna Coles and Sarah Watson along with the cast get dressed up and hit the town to celebrate the New York premiere at the Roxy Hotel then end the evening at a glamorous after party held at Paul’s Cocktail Lounge.

On Thursday, June 22nd, Freeform hosted the screening which was introduced by President of Freeform Tom Ascheim and Freeform’s Executive Vice President of Programming & Development, Karey Burke who described the series as their “love letter to modern feminism.” The guests noshed on specialty Pink Rose cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery (with the appropriately irreverent tagline “Be Bold, BITCHES”) and following the screening were treated to a Q&A panel with the cast and producers. Dan Bucatinsky (“Scandal,” “24: Legacy”), personal friend of Joanna Coles and self-described uber-fan of “The Bold Type,” led an empowering discussion where he described the series as one that “tells a feminist story about how women in power don’t have to take down other women in order to be in power.” At one point, Bucatinsky was describing how Coles inspires her staffers saying “Joanna will teach you how to please yourself,” which was followed by a laugh from the audience. When Bucatinsky realized how his comment came across, he joked saying “that’s not what I meant but I guess Joanna did that through Cosmo articles too!” After a lively discussion with the rest of the cast, Executive Producer Sarah Watson thanked “Sex & the City” for paving the way and shared that “The Bold Type” is a chance to tell the story of young women in this different day and age, where women can find their voice while having the confidence to say what they want. After the panel, guests celebrated by sipping on specialty “Bold and Bubbly” cocktails and enjoyed yummy apps like chicken and waffles at the cocktail party inside The Roxy at Paul’s Lounge.
