ICYMI: Seinfeld on Digital, Late Show Talks Sexiest Man Alive, and This Is Us Ratings Through The Roof
Welcome to the second issue of Comedy After Dark! Seinfeld: The Complete Series is now available on digital. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released all 180 episodes of the nine-season series. All you Seinfeld lovers out there can now buy individual episodes, full seasons, or the entire series.
‘Late Show’ host Stephen Colbert objected to country singer Blake Shelton being named People’s “Sexiest Man Alive.” He called Shelton the “Sexiest Man at Home Depot.” Colbert said, “What? Did I miss something? Is Matthew McConaughey dead?” Colbert joked of the new cover reveal. We have no comment on this but it is quite funny.
‘You’re the Worst’ has been renewed for it’s fifth and final season. The FXX romantic comedy will be airing in 2018. It stars Aya Cash and Chris Geere.
NBC continued to push high ratings on Tuesday. Tuesday night is home to This Is Us and The Voice. Both shows have steady ratings. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “This Is Us topped all original programming in the key demo, averaging a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49.” People who watch The Voice at 8 pm go one to watch This Is Us which airs right after it.
‘Difficult People’ was cancelled by Hulu shortly after the season three finale. Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner starred in the comedy, which was executive produced by Amy Poehler.

Hot Topics: Transparent, Veep, Samantha Bee, Melissa McCarthy, and Rosanne

Trace Lysette, who plays yoga instructor Shea on Transparent, is the second accuser to allege misconduct by the show’s star Jeffrey Tambor. Amazon says the new information “will be added to [their] ongoing investigation.”
One night Lysette came out of wardrobe in her costume for a scene. It was a lingerie top and matching shorts. Tambor made a sexual remark towards her saying he “wanted to attack her sexually.”
Lysette laughed it off and tried to not read too much into it. But, things escalated after the comment was made. Trace Lysette detailed the encounter with Tambor to The Hollywood Reporter:
“He came in close, put his bare feet on top of mine so I could not move, leaned his body against me, and began quick, discreet thrust back and forth against my body. I felt his penis on my hip through his thin pajamas.”
Amazon has an ongoing investigation on Tambor. This is something we will be keeping a close eye on.
As Samantha Bee closed her final show before Thanksgiving on Wednesday, she spoke about her experience in comedy in light of the recent sexual misconduct allegations against Louis C.K., Bee shed a light on what women go through in comedy.
“People ask me all the time, what it’s like to be a woman in comedy? Even if no one exposes his penis to you, you’re still dealing with a parade of total dicks, like lady-blind pieces of crap who interrupt you in every meeting. And when you do get to talk, [they] forget to write your jokes down.”
Bee shared a powerful message to female comedians and to all females in general. Especially now it’s important for women to speak up.
Since Julia Louis-Dreyfus first announced her breast cancer diagnosis, she has been forthcoming with fans as she undergoes treatment. She frequently takes to social media to share progress reports.
Frank Rich, an executive producer on the Emmy-winning HBO comedy, spoke with Press Pool about the status of the final season. While visiting SiriusXM on Wednesday, Rich said, “We’re obviously postponing production of the show — we were supposed to have started now — while she’s in treatment. The expectation is that we will shoot again. We have one more season we’re doing, which we’re incredibly excited about.”
Comedy show Nobodies, produced by hilarious and talented husband and wife duo Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone, is leaving TV Land. The second season will feature 12 episodes. It will air this spring on Paramount Network. This isn’t the only show leaving TV Land. The highly-rated show Younger is also leaving the network.
The fad that isn’t going away: revivals. Another one is the works and it’s none other than Roseanne. The original cast of the famous sitcom is in the middle of filming a new season. They just got some very exciting news from ABC. They’re going to have a slightly longer season than originally anticipated.
Guess Who: Dax Shepard Coming Back To NBC, Julianne Hough’s New Show and Chris Martin’s Guest Role

Dax Shepard will be guest starring in an upcoming episode of Will & Grace. No other details have come out yet.
Julianne Hough’s new show titled ‘One Hit Wendy’ will be executive produced by Grammy and Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Diane Warren. It is still in the early development stage. At this time, not much information has been released about the show.
And now for some interesting and unexpected casting news!. Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin will be guest starring as himself on Modern Family. He already filmed the episode titled “Brushes With Celebrity” and it will be airing on Nov. 29th. According to sources close to the show, Martin’s role is “ not just a cameo.” He’s apparently getting a “beefy role.”Phil Dunphy and Chris Martin might be a cool combo. Perhaps Phil will try to perform a magic trick for the Coldplay frontman?
Talent Interviews: Danny McBride Talks ‘Vice Principals’, Mindy Kaling on Her Series Finale, and Simon Blackwell’s New Show
‘Vice Principals’ only aired for two seasons. It left fans wondering why there was no third season. They chose to end it because they wanted their show to be something different. They wanted to keep the show short and approach it more like a feature film.
Danny McBride opened up to TVLine about the ending of the show. “It’d be foolish to make the same feature film over and over again… Ultimately, [the show] was made to be seen as one [nine-hour movie].”
Simon Blackwell left ‘Veep’ in 2015 after winning two Emmys for his work on the show. In the age of Trump and Brexit he is happy to not be in political satire anymore. His new show Back is an eight-part comedy that airs on Channel Four back in the U.K. It stars Stephen (Mitchell), who plays a neurotic only son whose father just died. He wants to take over his father pub. Sounds like an interesting show!
The famous and funny ‘Mindy Project’ has come to an end. Mindy Kaling recently talked about the surprise ending. For those of you who watched, Mindy and Danny (Chris Messina) shared a passionate kiss and reconciled their relationship. After all this time they still had feelings for each other.
