The wait is almost over: Shadowhunters is coming back stronger than ever
The second half of Season Two of Shadowhunters is almost here, and because of this, we want to get you as excited and pumped as we are. Season 2B has been kept pretty much under the wraps for the show fans who have only been able to get a few glances of the new episodes in teasers that are not even one minute long. As we know, with this show everything can be quite spoilery, especially when you have a fandom that is as passionate as the Shadowhunters fandom is. But it seems that the show has finally realized that their fans are good detectives and can easily figure out things just by looking at the BTS photos and videos from the set, because with this second half of the season we have barely seen anything that could be considered as spoilery.
With only one day to go before the premiere of episode 2×11 we are showing you our main 5 reasons why we are excited for Shadowhunters to finally come back to our TVs.
1. New characters.
On January it was announced that Will Tudor will be joining the cast as Sebastian Verlac, who is described as a “charming, brilliant and highly educated Shadowhunter with unrivaled fighting abilities.” Sebastian is not the only book character joining the show this season, showrunner Todd Slakvin teased Aline Penhallow, The Seelie Queen, Bat Velazquez and Catarina Loss will also be introduced, making both fans of the books and the show very happy and pumped to watch the remaining 10 episodes of Season 2. Characters from the TMI books are very special to the fandom, and even though their stories might be different in the show, it’s nice to see them being brought in and considered as important to the story as we all know they are.
2. Jace and Clary are not siblings.
On the Season 2A finale, Valentine (Alan Van Sprang) finally confessed the truth to Jace (Dominic Sherwood): he is not his father. This means that Clary (Katherine McNamara) and Jace are not related, therefore fans can start rooting for Clace once again. Even though Clary still doesn’t know the truth, based on the sneak peeks and teasers, we know Jace will tell her soon which puts her relationship with Simon (Alberto Rosende) on the spotlight and makes us wonder how things are going to unfold between the two of them. 3. Daylighter Simon.
Simon Lewis was turned into a vampire in Season one, which has turned his life upside down. He hasn’t been able to go out in the sunlight and join the others in missions.
Now that he is a Daylighter his whole life is about to change again. Being able to go out in the sunlight will not only be a positive thing, but it is going to bring him some troubles with the rest of the vampires, who will most likely be jealous when they hear about Simon’s condition.
4. New storylines on the horizon for our favorite characters.
As Matthew Daddario (Alec) said recently on his Takeover live chat, this season every character is being explored, which we can’t say enough how happy that makes us. With everything that’s going on, most of the characters on the show haven’t really had a chance to shine yet. We are excited to see more of Maia (Alisha Wainwright) and see her finally trusting the Shadowhunters and being part of the group. We can’t wait to see what the writers have in store for Luke (Isaiah Mustafa). Who his next partner is going to be, how is he coping life without Jocelyn? We want to see Luke more involved in the story, after all, he is the main character.
We want to get to know Malec, see them struggle, fight together, have conversations… we want to witness their evolving relationship. It’s not just about seeing their fights or kisses, we want to see the in-between: those mundane moments every relationship has, where they can just get to know each other.
We have a feeling that the writers have a few tricks up their sleeves with new storylines, and we can’t wait to be surprised. The showrunners even teased us about seeing Harry Shum Jr. dance as Magnus Bane on the show, which we are sure will be one of the most memorable scenes on the show to date.
5. New sets and bigger stunts.
We have seen in a few behind the scenes photos and videos that the cast, writers, and directors have been shooting in different locations for most of the episodes in 2B. A lot of these locations seem to be new and different from the ones we’ve seen already in previous episodes. What makes us happy is that most of this locations seem to be outdoors which instantly makes us wonder if storylines from the third book, City of Glass, are going to be shown and perhaps we are going to get a glimpse of Idris? We can only hope.
The cast also teased us about new stunts and fights in the upcoming episodes. And we have seen many of videos of them training at the stunt rooms and working out at the gym. Dom said recently on a live chat that he was excited about filming and watching later his biggest stunt to date on the show. We can tell things are being pushed to the next level and the fandom is ready to see major action-packed scenes, we are craving them.

If you are new to the show and you are still undecided about watching it, trust us when we say you should give it a go. You can still catch up on the episodes before the rest of Season 2 finishes airing, you still have time to join the ride. Is the show different from the books? Yes, it is, the show is an adaptation of the books, it has the essence of the story but the way it is being told is different. The show is constantly growing and we have a feeling that the next episodes are going to be nothing short from epic. With the world as rich as the Shadow World, you never know what you might get and we are ready to be surprised and to dive into it once again.
