Salem Premieres November 2nd on WGN America!!
Ah, fall. That time when we eat pumpkin spice everything and break out our sweaters. And honestly, there’s only so many times we can watch “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”. So what sorts of things do you look for Halloween week? Look no further than Salem on WGN America. Salem is an intense supernatural drama that re-imagines the infamous 17th-century witch trials in colonial Massachusetts in a world where witches are real, but they are not who or what they seem. It’s created and written by Brannon Braga and Adam Simon.
WGN has been picking up steam with original content that keeps getting better and better. But perhaps you haven’t seen the first two seasons of Salem? That’s ok! WGN has a video that will have you all set to go. Check out the season 2 recap here.
The season three synopsis is beyond intriguing. From the official synopsis:
The third season of “Salem” dawns with the triumph of the witches’ plan to remake the New World by bringing the devil to earth and making Salem his capital. But the devil is a liar, and instead of a New World free from murderous Puritan hypocrisy, his own plan will bring nothing but death and slavery with the ultimate aim of leading humanity to destroy itself. And there’s only one person on earth who can beat the devil — the very witch that birthed him, his mother, Mary Sibley. The only problem is—she’s dead. Or is she?
Salem stars Janet Montgomery (Human Target, Made in Jersey), Shane West (Nikita, ER), Seth Gabel (Arrow, Fringe), Ashley Madekwe (Revenge), Tamzin Merchant (Jane Eyre), Elise Eberle (The Astronaut Farmer) and Iddo Goldberg (Mob City). New to the cast for season 3 are Grammy-awarded nominated artist Marilyn Manson and Samuel Roukin (TURN: Washington’s Spies). It’s odd to see Marilyn Manson without the signature look, but his character looks creepy as all get-out.
The official synopsis for the premiere is as follows:
In “After the Fall” – written by creators Brannon Braga (Cosmos, 24) and Adam Simon (The Haunting in Connecticut) and directed by Nick Copus – Alden buries Mary and attempts to leave Salem but is stopped by the militia. He declares war is afoot and Salem is next. Petrus shows Tituba a vision of hell on earth and reveals the only way to stop the Boy, so Tituba conspires with the Essex witches. Meanwhile, Anne continues her hold over Cotton using Brown Jenkins, Mercy is running a whorehouse and takes blood from the whores as payment, and an unknown figure is slowly making his way to Salem.
