After a hundred plus years of coming in on top of Santa’s Nice list (with the exception of his Rippah years and the awful deeds earning him the title, ‘Ripper of Monterey’) Stefan finds himself on the Naughty list this year. Even though all Stefan’s actions this year aren’t worthy of the dreaded Naughty list, unfortunately Santa didn’t have a choice when he got word of Stefan giving up on his brother, Damon, and abandoning his friends when they needed him the most, especially Caroline.

Do you play nicely with others?
Of course! I always team up with my friends to rescue another friend in need. Well, unless it’s Enzo. He needs to go and I have no problem turning him over to a vampire hunter, Tripp and would do it again if presented with the option.
Do you tell the truth, even if someone asks if you did something naughty?
Most of the time. Except for if I think it’s best for everyone else not to know, but I only keep secrets because it’s for the ‘common good.’ For example, I’ve known for years that the real Sarah Salvatore is alive and have been watching over her. I let Damon believe she died because he doesn’t deserve to know she’s alive and be free of that guilt.
What are you leaving Santa for a snack this year?
I am a pretty traditional guy and quite a good cook. I like to stick to a pretty regimented diet and practice restraint so I will probably just bake him some vegan cookies. I would also leave some carrot sticks for the reindeer, because they are definitely going to need to refuel after I have my midnight snack.

It’s hard for me to put anyone on a “naughty list” because I tend not to see people as all good or all bad. IMO they always have a reason or reasons behind their actions. Those reasons don’t justify bad actions, but they give us some insight into why they do them.
Stefan has been lieing or omitting things from the very beginning and especially lately has become quite arrogant - a defensive mechanism if I ever saw one. He says that HE decides what is best and then acts on it, without realizing that what he does is often self-serving. He has always needed to see himself as the “good brother” and only rarely tried to see his motivations clearly. So, he has needed to rationalize some of his actions.
Having said all that I DO think Stefan belongs on the “naughty list”, if only because he’s so out of touch with his feelings that he hurts other people and is clueless about it. Many of us rationalize but that doesn’t make it a healthy coping mechanism. I think Stefan would benefit from seeing a good therapist. To be fair so would Damon, but for different reasons.
On the other hand, which character on “The Vampire Diaries” has no trait, whether one or many, which qualifies them for the “naughty list”? Humans are the same, so why not vampires who started out in life as human?
