Meet John Constantine
NBC released the official synopsis and promotional photos for the series premiere of Constantine 1×01, titled, “Non Est Asylum.” Written by Daniel Cerone and David Goyer and directed by Neil Marshall, the episode airs Friday, Oct. 24th. In this episode, we’re introduced to John Constantine (Matt Ryan), a master of the occult. He returns to fighting evil supernatural forces to help a friend’s daughter (Lucy Griffiths). In the promotional photo featured above, John Constantine is shown with the angel assigned to watch over him, Manny (Harold Perrineau). They are surrounded by fire and Manny has his hand on Constantine’s shoulder as if he is trying to help or reason with him because Constantine’s expression leads us to believe he’s in distress. He fights the good fight — or at least he did. With his soul already damned to hell, he’s decided to abandon his campaign against evil until a series of events thrusts him back into the fray when an old friend’s daughter (guest star Lucy Griffiths) becomes the target of supernatural forces. Harold Perrineau and Charles Halford also star.
