Rila Fukushima Cast as Oliver’s Mentor
Wolverine actress Rila Fukushima is joining the CW superhero drama, Arrow for its third season. According to Entertainment Weekly, Rila has been cast in the role of Katana, a mentor and great influence in Oliver’s transformation into the green hooded hero Starling City calls, Arrow. Only to appear in flashbacks, Katana, also known as Tatsu Yamashiro, is a sword yielding martial arts expert. The part of Katana was originally reported to be portrayed by Devon Aoki, but due to scheduling conflicts she had to back out of the role.

In addition to portraying Yukio the X-Men movie smash hit, Wolverine, Rila Fukushima is a Japanese fashion model and has appeared in numerous brands’ advertising campaigns and appears in the Japanese Taiga drama Gunshi Kanbei as Omichi.
Season 3 of Arrow returns on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 8/7c on The CW.
