Raven, one of the Teen Titans member for the new Titans series, has been cast and it’s Teagan Croft!
One of the many DC Comics television shows that is coming in 2018 is the live-action Teen Titans series Titans from executive producers Akiva Goldsman, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Geoff Johns. With production set to start later this year, we have our first piece of casting news.
Deadline reports that young Australian actress Teagan Croft (The Osiris Child) has landed the iconic DC role of Rachel Roth a.k.a. Raven. Croft, who will board the project as a series regular, will be the first actor to ever play Raven in live-action. The official description for the show’s version of Raven reads as follows:
“Croft’s Raven, described as the daughter of a demon, is a powerful empath who must keep her emotions in check or risk unleashing her demonic side.”
The “daughter of a demon” reference is a hint to Raven’s father Trigon, one of the big Teen Titans villains. While it hasn’t been confirmed whether Trigon will show up in the first season, given the great creative team behind the series, including DC legend Johns, it would make a lot of sense if we see the villainous daddy in the first season.
The series, which is set to debut on a new DC branded streaming service, will also feature iconic characters such as Dick Grayson a.k.a. Nightwing along with Starfire and Garfield Logan a.k.a. Beast Boy. The first season will consist of 13 episodes which will start filming in Toronto, Canada in October.
“Titans explores one of the most popular comic book teams ever. It follows a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In the action-adventure series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes that includes Starfire, Raven and others.”
