Iris West’s mother is coming to The Flash and it’s Melrose Place’s Vanessa Williams!
It looks like Tony Todd, who will be voicing the big bad Zoom, won’t be the only actor from Candyman to show up on the upcoming season of The Flash. Variety reports that Melrose Place star Vanessa Williams has been tapped to play the mother of Iris West (Candice Patton) and wife of Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) on the new season of the fastest man alive.
No further details were revealed other than that she has been cast. It will probably be somewhere in the first 7 episodes as Patton revealed at Wizard World recently that she has already filmed with her mom. They are keeping all the details about Mama West under big wraps, which is also the case for Wally West, who will be played by Keiynan Lonsdale. In the show, the status of Iris’s mom has been a big mystery as they have never addressed completely whether she is dead or if she and Joe got a divorce at some point.
In other The Flash news, a new TV spot aired this week giving us a better look at Zoom, who will be voiced by Todd starting in the second episode titled “Flash of Two World”. The new footage also features more of Teddy Sears’ Jay Garrick/The Flash of Earth 2 as he and Barry befriend one another. You can catch the trailer below.
Last, but not the least: as the new season approaches, a new poster was released by DC Comics featuring Barry and what appears to be something from the Speed Force.
