A thriller from FX, The Strain the story of New York City’s head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team, Dr. Ephraim Goodweather. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak. The virus spreads and shows symptoms of an ancient, evil strain of vampirism. Dr. Eph, his team, and a group of everyday New Yorkers mist fight for the fate of humanity.

2:59 PM – Ben Hyland says everyone is really nice to him and they treat him like he’s part of the team! Aw!
3:00 PM – “Kelly has good intentions but her timing is a bit off,” says Natalie Brown of her character.
3:01 PM – “It’s gruesome.” “Incredibly dank.” say Corey Stoll and Mia Maestro of filming in Toronto.
3:02 PM – Carlton Cuse they went and bought tunnels and taverns and grottos from other sets for theirs.
3:02 PM – Guillermo del Toro says the white worm idea came from working with his wife on her thesis about heart worms.
3:03 PM – “They would live in the veins… If it creeps me out I will put it in,” says del Toro on creating the worms and The Strain.
3:07 PM – “When I saw the teeth – it was a piece of art,” Richard Sammel says it was very very believable as it’s based on fact.
3:09 PM – “We’ve made the show we wanted to make.” Carlton Cuse says FX have allowed the team to be as creative as they wanted to be.
3:10 PM – Carlton Cuse: “We’ve used the best stuff from the books and invented a bunch of other stuff.”
3:11 PM – Carlton said they didn’t think they could do any better than Corey Stoll for his part. “He embodied everything we wanted in the character.”
3:13 PM – David Bradley appealed to the casting crew for many reasons – not the least of which being Harry Potter!
3:14 PM – “One of the most trustworthy adorable characters” – del Toro said Sean Astin was perfect for the part.
3:16 PM – Del Toro thought it would be funny to have Sean Astin- the most loyal friend be the betrayer. Like Sam telling Frodo he lost the ring.
3:17 PM – Carlton says Natalie Brown was a wonderful capture for them.
3:19 PM – Each character reacts to the virus differently says del Toro.
3:22 PM – Corey Stoll said they don’t try to scare each other because they get scared enough on set!
3:23 PM – Del Toro they took the concept of The Strain all the way to the top and the potential producers asked him if it could be a comedy! Del Toro said after they asked if it could be a comedy he left – and FX gave them the opportunity for it!
3:25 PM – If the world says no no no then you walk around the block a few times, have a cigarette & ask again. Great advice del Toro!
3:26 PM – “I become a nuisance as often as I can,” says del Toro of being involved in the creative process.
3:29 PM – Del Toro just gave some fantastic advice on not giving up to a fan who said “you’re my favorite director!”
3:31 PM, – Sean Astin said he chose the role because of Guillermo del Toro and Pans Labyrinth!
