ICYMI: Once Upon A Time casts its Naveen, and first look at Danneel Ackles in Supernatural!
Welcome to another edition of Fantasy After Dark! We have plenty of news to share with you, but before you get started, let’s take a trip to last week’s issue to catch you up on the latest news!
Jeff Pierre, best known for his role in Freeform’s Beyond, has been cast as Prince Naveen in ABC’s Once Upon A Time! Taken from the Disney tale The Princess and The Frog, Pierre will show up season 7 in the March 9 episode titled, “A Taste of the Heights.” You can catch the return of Once Upon A Time on Friday, March 2 on ABC!
In other fantasy news, One Tree Hill alum Danneel Ackles joined the cast of Supernatural alongside her husband Jensen Ackles. It’s been a few months since the reveal and now fans can get a first look at the Mrs. in action! Ackles will be playing Sister Jo, a faith leader who finds herself in ties with Lucifer. Sister Jo will first appear in Supernatural’s 13th episode of the 13th season, titled “Devil’s Bargain, which aired this week.

Hot Topic: American Gods finds a new showrunner for season 2!
American Gods Season 2 finds a new showrunner, as Jesse Alexander (Star Trek: Discovery) will be taking over the STARZ series. The book’s adaptation was initially run by Bryan Fuller and Michael Green, but the two departed from the series in November over budget and creative direction issues with production company FremantleMedia.
Alexander will work alongside the book’s creator Neil Gaiman for season 2. STARZ has yet to announce a premiere date.
TVAD Writers Room: Penny was put at the center in last week’s episode of The Magicians, and our roundtable loved it!
“Be The Penny” was the title of last week’s episode of The Magicians, which put Penny (Arjun Gupta) himself at the center. Our roundtable discusses their from moments from the episode, and revealed which character they would want to write their eulogy!

Coming Soon: Conan the Barbarian series in the works at Amazon!
Based on the books by Robert E. Howard, a Conan series is being developed at Amazon by Ryan Condal (Colony), Miguel Sapochnik (Game of Thrones), and Warren Littlefield (Handmaid’s Tale).
Condal is credited as writer and creator of Conan, which retells the classic stories from his origins. Conan seeks to find his place in a mysterious world of civilization that rejects him.
This won’t be the first time the Barbarian gets a live-action, as Arnold Schwarzenegger most famously portrayed him in the 1982 film Conan the Barbarian.
