Star Trek: Voyager actress books guest spot on season 4 of Arrow!
The casting news just keeps coming in for the fourth season of the Green Arrow series Arrow as Access Hollywood revealed that Star Trek: Voyager actress Jeri Ryan has booked a guest spot on the show. Ryan will be playing an original character named Jessica Danforth who Access Hollywood describes as “a friend of the Queen family. Her political ambitions will place her in the crosshairs of a menacing antagonist.” She is set to appear in the second episode “The Candidate” that started filming today and is set to air on October 14. It doesn’t take a lot of detective work to see that Danforth is most likely going to be that “candidate”, although the identity of this “menacing antagonist” remains to be seen.
The thought that came to mind when seeing this casting was the idea of the show possibly introducing some of Oliver’s political sides and arcs from the comics where he does become mayor at one point, into the show through this episode. When Oliver returns to Star City (or Starling City, depending on your preference) and becomes the Green Arrow, I would like to see him also work on the Oliver Queen persona. This time it’s not going to work with him just going full-time as the emerald archer and not being Oliver Queen, this season he has to find that balance of being two completely different people, unless his goal is to let Star City know who Green Arrow is. Whatever happens, everything that we have heard about season 4 so far, is showing that this season will aim towards the right direction.
Ryan joins a list of several booked actors for the fourth season with Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk (the big bad of season 4), Echo Kellum as Curtis Holt a.k.a. Mr. Terrific, Alexander Calvert as Lonnie Machin a.k.a Anarky, Jimmy Akingbola as Baron Reiter and JR Bourne as Double Down. It’s safe to say that we are most likely getting more casting news in the coming weeks, especially more DC Comics characters because who doesn’t love themselves some new heroes and villains? It would be great to hear announcements for more DC female characters for season 4.
“After defeating his most formidable foe to date and riding off into the sunset with longtime flame Felicity Smoak, Oliver Queen (a.k.a. The Arrow) left Starling City with the hopes of beginning a new life. But will Oliver ever truly be able to leave behind his past as the Arrow, and, if so, what becomes of the team he has worked so hard to assemble? Will Diggle, Thea, and Laurel be left to continue Oliver’s crusade without him? And with Malcolm Merlyn having ascended to the top of the League of Assassins as the new Ra’s al Ghul, is anyone really safe? From Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on The CW.”
Arrow Season 4 premieres on Wednesday, October 7, 8/7c on The CW.
