It had been previously announced that Salem star Iddo Goldberg had been tapped to play the DC Comics characters Red Tornado as well as his creator T.O. Morrow on the upcoming CBS show Supergirl. Since then, fans of the beloved DC android have been waiting to see how the show would bring him to life visually and today, we got a first look from Warner Bros. TV that features Goldberg as Red Tornado.
While the design of Red Tornado on the show does have a lot of similarities to Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, comparisons were bound to happen, which is common for a lot of DC and Marvel characters that have similar looks and more. Comparisons aside, this is a very good design for a character that is making his live-action debut on a TV show.
It’s absolutely safe to say that there will be several CGI work added when we see him as a finished product on Supergirl, which may be part of the sizzle reel that will be aired during the season two premiere of Scorpion this Monday. All I’m asking for is that Red gets his cape to complete the whole look which may also be where CGI comes in. Whoever the costume designer is on Supergirl, did an excellent job with this design.
For those who may have missed it, here is how Warner Bros. TV describes the Supergirl take on Red Tornado when he makes his debut, at some point in the nine first episodes:
“Red Tornado is the most advanced android the world has ever seen. Designed by scientist T.O. Morrow for the U.S. Army as the ultimate superweapon, he soon becomes sentient, posing a grave danger to National City — including the people Supergirl cares about most.”
