Dorothy Won’t Be Traveling Back to Oz in NBC’s Emerald City
Emerald City, a modern and sophisticated twist on L. Frank Buam’s 14 book series, “Oz,was scheduled to debut on NBC in 2015 According to Deadline, the 10-episode Oz-themed drama series as been dropped by the network. NBC put a halt on Dorothy’s trip back to Oz reportedly due to a difference of opinion between NBC execs and the show’s producers in the series’ direction. However, Universal Television, which developed Emerald City, and produces it is still in favor of the series and possibly might look for another network interested in the projected.

Emerald City is described as a modern and dark reimagining of the classic tale of Oz in the vein of Game Of Thrones, drawing upon stories from Baum’s original 14 books that include lethal warriors, competing kingdoms, and the infamous wizard as we’ve never seen him before. A head-strong 20-year-old Dorothy Gale is unwittingly sent on an eye-opening journey that thrusts her into the center of an epic and bloody battle for the control of Oz.
